*Luke ANH Macrobinoculars body found. ARCHIVE PLEASE!*

Unfortunately, it seems that the viewfinder and lens pictured above belong to the "Anchorhead" version of the binocs. I can't find any pics confirming the other version (Eumig) version shared that same viewfinder, nor can I tell if the lenses are the same.

The "Eumig" style lenses look to have, on the middle or the rear ring, a knob sticking out for easy adjustment. Does this "new lens" have this knob?

If not, I think the hunt may continue....

Quite a mystery.

I have only the right view of the camera yet, so I dunno if there`s the focus knob on the other side.

Checked some other models which used the same body but different lenses and they have a focus adjustment knob (wrong style)

congrats to the two guys which found the correct camera too

Email text which I received right now :

"Why is there so much sudden interest in the camera ?
Your message is the third one I have received this
morning on the subject, and I have not had questions
about this camera for years"

I`m glad nobody told him anything about movie props yet
icon_lol.gif

Please be careful about this find, there are not enough cameras for all out there !

1) I think there are, actually, just like with those darn graflexes (okayyyyy, not mpp

)

2) Just make something up if you are asked about this.

I vote for something we can all agree upon, e.g. it is a game some nerds (fitting, huh?!) play, like "hunting the flag", but now it is "hunting the camera/book/typewriter" whatever. And the one who can show pics with him in them holding the camera/whatever is the new "headgeek of the world" !!!

And we wouldn´t even be lying to people about this "headgeek of the world" thing

Is it so hard to fly under the radar ? I´ll open a thread on this in the OT forum.

I really have no problems with that, we have a free market here in Germany since some years
icon_lol.gif

It`s you guys who will pay a bunch of money for that stuff soon not me

PS: I`ve got some Hi-res images now and the finder and lens looks correct.

The official answer for anyone that can't make up a story or play it out... And this way stories are consistant!

Answer: It's for a scavenger hunt, it's worth 35 points out of 1000!

It really doesn't matter what you tell them. They could care less if it's for Star Wars or any other thing. The thing that triggers high prices is demand. If you've got 100 people all of a sudden wanting something that was never before seen to be of value, those who have the supply will know something is up, and adjust the price. The only thing that would stop the price from rising is for people NOT to want these things. That isn't probably going to happen real soon.

Personally, I don't care if I have the real deal, or something that looks just like the real deal. I'm a replica prop collector, not a camera collector

They don't care, correct. But they do recognize Star Wars and EVERYBODY knows of it's popularity and rabid fans...so , it actually DOES matter that someone informed them of this. I've also been looking for Napoleon Dynamite props that had found objects used (as have a number of people) but people are like "napoleon...who?"

I agree that 100+ calls would trigger an increase in price by itself, but the Star Wars tipoff was plain F-in stupid by whomever pulled that off

Same here, but anything that wasn't screen used is a replica, and this piece is as close to the real deal as you'll get...so let the chase continue

You`re right that a big demand will change the price.

In this case I just contacted a collector who had nothing for sale. I had a quiet good conversation with him about this camera system and I see much clearer now.

BTW there`s no focus knob on the lens maybe my find was wrong or it was added by the prop crew.

In the above pic, the large knob on the left I think looks like parts 107(Front Pulley) and maybe combined with 106(Vibration Damper Pulley) from the Visible V8 kit?

SAS

Never say never, of course, but I doubt there are any V8 parts on it. None have been identified on any ANH prop yet.

This topic can't be on page 2... so I'm going to add this post to it...

The top 6 "found items" finds/discoveries (in my opinion) since the RPF started which was around July of 1999...

1) Emuig Servomatic (because it's been a mystery for so long)
2) MPP Microflash
3) No.3 - Mk.1 British Rifle Grenade
4) Hembrug M-95 Ammo Pouch (Luke's Triange "ANH" front pouch)
5) Compac Scope (Han's "ANH" Greedo Killer Scope)
6) Webley No.1 - Mk.1 Flare Gun

This isn't a found item, but how about the fact that we figured out that there were actually 7 grips on Luke's ANH saber other than 6.

That's just my list and the Eumig find prompted me to add this. I don't mean to hi-jack.

That piece was also one of the more popular "mysteries" here for a long time!

Hmmmm, someone keeps the ball rolling :

"Hi!Someone else emailed asking about the same lens you did and wanting to
"do a deal" on the camera and the lenses..I told him it was up for
auction...so you may have competitiion if you are interested."

good luck on it, I won`t place a bid on the auction
