Hey!

I am looking to make a replica costume for halloween of Ludo from the Labyrinth. I can not find or figure out how they made his hair for the whole body. PLEASE can anyone point me in the right direction or help me out?

Thank you so much :)

I have been wanting to build this for years, but do not have the time/patience/skill/money to do it justice. What is your plan of attack? My guess is that they hand-punched yak hair or something similar for the actual production. A painstaking process.

It does look hand punched, the difference in hair thickness and length would suggest exactly that.
I do know a company that makes very long faux fur that you could use in conjunction with hand-laid or punched hair to get a similar effect, but it's expensive. Very expensive. It's what the pros use though, the only 4-way stretch fur you'll find in as many lengths as you'd need.

You could of course go lower budget using shorter faux fur and some illusory length by bulking out the forms a little more, CR's crafts do a fox fur in 3 inch length that will give you a nice shaggy effect if you use it cleverly. Combine that with some acrylic hair for length, might do just fine.

Are you wanting to go with super realistic? hair punching is the way to go. Faux fur is an option though its hard to find. If you want to punch the hair, you can go synthetic or with real hair (real hair would be really expensive, but its easier to style the way you want) You should check out ebay for wefts like this one

if you want to punch them. if not it will be hard to find the length you need. other options are faux fur like i said, which there are a few out there.

you would just have problems with not having the length for his adorable face :)
are you wanting to be able to have an open mouth and stuff or a basic mask or? latex foam is a good choice, though ive seen people make it out of other materials, instructables has good alternatives that you might get some ideas from.
