Crocodile Dundee - Making a Custom Vest - Help with Material

Hi all,

I'm currently working on designing a vest based on the look from the movie Crocodile Dundee. I want to make a modern take on the vest pictured but make it functional for outdoor adventures. I'm wondering if anyone can tell what material the vest is made of? I'm thinking perhaps Waxed Canvas.

Crocodile Dundee 1986 Paul Hogan Vest - William Jacket this suggests its leather but then further down it says faux leather so maybe they are making replicas.
it appears in the photo on their page to have some leather details.
the main material could be nubuck.
