Lost season 6 with spoilers beware

Well, I wonder if Widmore brought Desmond to the island so that Desmond can travel back in time to the point at which Jacob and MIB arrived--maybe that's the only point in time where MIB is vulnerable, before he became a god (if in fact he was once a normal human). Desmond's ability to alter time (as opposed to just traveling through it, unable to change anything) is surely his reason for being there.

I think the structure of this last season is a big ruse. I don't think the Losties created the sideways universe by detonating Jughead--it was always there, along with myriad other universes all existing concurrently. My guess from the start of this season was that this particular sideways universe is the heaven/hell universe where our characters get their just reward/punishment based on their allegiances on the island. If you go with Locke, bad things happen in your sideways existence. If you work for Jacob, good things happen. Until you make your choice, your sideways fate is uncertain (like Ben in the episode where he had to choose, that choice determined what he did in the sideways universe--he picked 'good' and so in sideways world he helped Alex at the expense of his own interests). Likewise, Sawyer seemed perched on the edge between good and evil on the island, and so in sideways world there was a chance he was going to go for vengeance instead of asking Miles for help--how he plays the battle on the island will determine whether he has a happy ending or not. We can safely assume Hurley will be good--he's the good-est guy there is--and in sideways world he's lucky, rich, and confident. Even sideways Locke seems to have come to peace with himself, which would seem to be a fitting reward for having done good service to Jacob and the island. Meanwhile, Sayid sided with Locke on the island and was offered the typical evil/trick deal: Sayid said the only thing he wanted in the world died in his arms and he'd never see her again. Locke says 'what if I told you you could?' Sayid signs on with Locke. Too bad Locke's offer is just that--in sideways world, Nadia is alive and well and Sayid can 'see' her, but he's not with her and as a result he's miserable--welcome to hell, Sayid.

My guess is that the candidates will do battle and most all will die (which is ok for the audience because we know they're going to continue on in the sideways world), and in the end Jack will somehow be granted a glimpse into his own sideways world where he has a son that he loves, and he'll have to sacrifice his own happy ending in order to take responsibility for the island. It's a very Abraham/Isaac sacrifice, and fitting with the show's Old Testament flair.

My question (and something I thought would be resolved last night) is, of all the Oceanic Six who returned to the island on the Ajira flight, we saw how each of them got there--Jack and Kate via Eloise at the lighthouse, Hurley because Jacob visited him in the cab, Sayid because he was captured by Iliana--except for Sun. The last time we saw her back in the real world, she had seized control of her father's company, she blamed the other Oceanic Six for leaving Jin behind, and she went to meet with Widmore to discuss his intentions for the island. Suddenly she's on the plane with no explanation for how she knew it would bring her to the island. Seems to me she struck a deal with Widmore and when she comes face to face with him (I thought this would happen last night), the truth will come out--she led him back to the island. Jin will be completely betrayed by Sun's actions and the whole thing will blow up in her face--she'll be lumped in with the baddies and something bad will happen in the sideways universe--like her losing her daughter...

I think this episode may have given us the subtle beginnings of a dovetail with the flash sideways storyline/characters. Jack seemed a bit confused or unsure when diagnosing Sun's condition ("it might be.." or whatever he said). What if she's experiencing a merging of her self with her other self in some way? Alternate Sun never learned english; that was in preparation for leaving Jin in the original storyline.

Jack, Sun and Ben were at the lighthouse. Ben took Sun there with the promise that he'd prove Jin was alive. That's how she got on the plane.

Kate gave up Aaron and later met Jack at his place asking him if he was still going to travel back to the island. That's how Kate got the info to arrive on the plane.

I think widmore found the island through the Lamp Post. Makes sense that him and Eloise would still have a relationship off island.

Gotta love it. 7 weeks to go, 5.5 years worth behind us and we still have no clue what's really going on and how it's going to end :)

Ah dammit--there goes that theory lol. Man, I have a pretty good mind for details but this show has pushed me past my ability to juggle all the details. :lol

I do think that I'm right about the nature of the sideways world though. Can't wait to find out!

We were talking about the possibilities of why Widmore captured Desmond and brought him to the island.

Here are a few pics from ABC that might shed some light on it.

Well, the creators are on record as saying they aren't guranteeing that the show will have a satisfying end. Could all be big bluff ala JKR with harry potter books, but we won't know til mid may :)

It was good to see Mikhail again, though he seems to continue to have bad luck in the eye department...

I wonder if we'll see Mr. Friendly in the side story?

We might, honestly, what with Keamy asking for Mikhail as "Danny's friend." Which is probably Pickett, Tom Friendly's pal. So you never know.

Who knew that Jin gave Patchy his eye patch?! Well, at least he did in the sideways world.

I'm guessing thats a reference on how you can't change things (future/past). He lost his eye at that moment in time no mater what timeline he was on.

In the same vein, we'll probably see Mr. Friendly shot in the heart and die at some point in the side story as we know that is how he died on the island when Sawyer shot him.

The look between Sayid and Desmond was just weird. I wasn't sure what to take away from that moment.

Jack making promises to get people off the island is never a good thing. I like his character and all, and I'm figuring on him stepping up to take Jacob's mantle, but he's just kind of inept with the hero stuff. Y'know?

;)

I still miss the real John Locke though. Just doesn't seem right that he isn't involved in the last season of this show.

I can't wait to see how Desmond plays into everything. The only thing that is certain about Desmond and time is that the rules don't apply to him. Even Faraday used him as a game changer in the past to contact his mom Eloise in the future. No telling what the writers have up their sleeves, but I can't wait to find out what it is. Those pics from ABC are very interesting.

He wasn't part of season 5 either, really. We just didn't know it.

That look was weird though. Hard to explain. Obviously he knows saayid, so you'd think he'd be screaming help me or have that type of expression on his face. He looked almost as if he feared saayid as much as the rest of them.

I think he didn't want to blow Sayid's cover, thinking that he might help get him out of there and not knowing how Sayid has changed. And of course Sayid was silent...he didn't wanna get shot. Ha.

maybe I didn't read enough into it. I just figured with Desmond being drugged, he was out of it and trying to figure out what's going on. To me he had more of a confused look on his face.
