LOST: Dharma Beer Cans and other Dharma Products

So how does one go about making a custom aluminum can? Best I can think of right now is painting one white and adding the logo and text as a decal...

Looks to me like the props used a shrink wrap to cover an existing can. In the closeup shot of the beer can being tipped back (5th picture down), you can see wrinkles around the bottom of the white portion.

i think it's funny that they needed to brand their own beer

guess there's a beer plant somewhere on the island... now where's the still?

I agree. And in that last photo, there's a can pretty well in the center and you can see a bit of the label lifting off the can. They may have also printed out some on paper and glued them on?

Ooh, yeah. Shrink wrap makes sense. Any idea if that kind of thing can be done without having to find a company to make 20,000 of one?

Wonder if I could get a shrinky dink machine to do the job? :lol

The 'Dharma' logo is of the 'Swan', the 'Hatch' that blew up. So was Roger DELIVERING beer to the Hatch, or had he bartered with whoever was in the Hatch at said time in trade? Island history here. Even the van had a big Dharma logo on the front, although I don't recall if it was Swan. Must go look.

dunno about cans but binders are real easy

Very nice job on the binder.

It looks like the original shown in the screencap has a small border outline around the graphic.

Feel free to share ;)

Thanks. I was debating about putting a thinner border around it or not, but I came to the conclusion that it was probably just a shadow from the insert. Though it's an easy fix if it's not. LOL

I'm going to change a couple of things on it and then redo the spine. I'll share once it's finished. :D

I'm also working on the beer label, just lacking one thing. So is there anyone that can post an ingredients list off of a can of beer for me? No one in my family drinks. :lol

RE: The Border...

I had originally typed a whole thing about how I thought that the outline was a cut out guide, too, but then looking at the 2nd grab, you can see thet edge of the 8 1/2 X 11 paper by Syed's thumb.

Also, did you bold your text? The originals look a little bolder/darker. (Here's me being a pain in the a$$ again ;) )

Hmm, it's quite possible it is a cut out guide and they just didn't bother to cut it out. :lol I'll go ahead and add it. :)

One of the things I'm fixing ;)

Other Dharma products, eh? I've long been hankering for a pack of Dharma playing cards....does anyone have a decent graphic that could be used at one of those print-your-own-deck things?

I would absolutely LOVE to get some metal DHARMA station logos made up. I'm thinking something in aluminum, or stainless steel. A large one of The Swan, and maybe a slightly smaller set of all six. Kinda like the one on the front of the van.

If anyone can make these it would be awesome, since ABC doesn't want to do licensed LOST stuff... :unsure

The logos at Lostpedia seem to be pretty accurate and could possibly be used as templates:

I've scanned the Swan logo from the cover of my Season 2 DVD booklet cover. All of the other swan logos I have seen have been just a little bit off here and there, even the Lostpedia version.

Here's the official 100% accurate version:

I'll admit that the bagua trigrams a are bit on the "wobbly" side in this one. Perhaps that's official, but I prefer the more straight trigrams, still with the rounded corners, that the Lostpedia version has.

The logo is supposed to look hand painted.
Also, the font they are using on the labels is Helvetica (you can tell by the "R"s), so stop using Arial people. ;)

I have access to a water cutter. If there is enough interest and some one can make a PDF file of the logo, it's possible I could get these done

In THIS THREAD over at Rebelscum we're trying to get a run of them made. Philip mentioned doing them in acrylic, but I'd prefer metal. Maybe you can visit that thread and let us know what you can do. :D
