Lost Auction - Did anyone here get anything?

Re: Lost Auction - link to twitter with going prices in OP

Operational Hurley Corvette goes for less -$20,000 than the non-operational half of a Frozen Donkey Wheel - $25,000

So the epic battle plays out and Jacob wins again:

Jacob's Beach Outfit sold for 3,500 and MiB's beach outfit sold for 2,750

I feel I am pretty screen used savvy collector and I can not see many of these items keeping this kind of value in 10 years. I mean $450 per beer can.

On the beer cans and paper items, there probably are lots of other backup props out there. Its not like they would just make two 12 packs of beer.

I will be purchasing something from this lot!

I watched the key pieces like the hatch doors and time wheel knowing they would do well. Even though I didn't get anything I'm glad I have the catalog as it is the ultimate reference for the show.

FFFFFFFFFFF Of all the times to be broke! ;_; I would have so bought up anything I could if I had enough to waste on nerdgasms atm. (Even a Dharma Gum Wrapper I would treasure always.)

Totally awesome to follow the auction anyway!

I would have gotten sniped on everything I bid for. Of course, I bid like an idiot, actually only bidding what I can afford for my max bid.... ;)

Seriously, I would have killed to be there, even for a Dharma gum wrapper, like someone said up above.

Im not worried about value....back in 1993 a "Doctor Who" costume would sell on average a few hundred pounds....now several thousand.

Its all about buying good stuff that make people feel emotions and thus empty there wallet. Most of these items went to "fans". Even the expensive stuff...not prop collectors. They will hold on to that one item forever.

In 22 years of prop collecting as much as things have changed they haven't.

Im glad I picked up the few bits I did. Heres one of them.

Tardis55 OH MAN Nice snag!! Are you going to wear it to a Con or just hang it for posterity? 8D I'd totally run around in that jumper if I owned one, regardless of how much it cost me. How much did that run you, by the way?

Congrats on having the winning bid, tardis! And I think you're exactly right, at those prices it's likely more about the emotions of owning something more than investing in something that people think will be worth something.

But then again, the more people with those emotions who want to own something, the more it's worth... kind of cyclical.

I sure wish there was a way to find out who owns what, I'd love to get some close up photos of some of the pieces.

Laughs Im more Hurley than Jack....so unfortuantely no running around a con.

I used to when I was younger.....but to be honest a jumpsuit is not hardest thing in world to replicate.

A sage bit of advice. I had the good fortune to work with a really nice guy to split some of these lots with. That way we spread the load...it worked out really well.

I saw other people on the internet do this too. Sadly when I reached out to a few others online I didn't recieve as much excitement from people as these tweeters who organised 4 group buys did.

THAT was my secret....just like the show it was better to "live together..rather than die alone". Obviously the above costume didn't work quite like that....I just loved the character and was lucky that it came up at 1:00 am in the morning....otherwise I think it would have cost more.

Right, my blue motor pool jumpsuit is at the embroiderers right now. :D What I really wanted was the metaphorical wine bottle to go along with the Jacob costume I'm making... which is why I'd love to find out who has that costume so I could get some photos of how the shirt pleats are constructed.

I think I figured it out, but it would be nice to get an inside photo. :p I'll end up with 'good enough' I think.

Looks like some people are already flipping their auction buys on ebay.

Maybe there will be some beer cans...

I did not bid on anything, but I've a friend whose effects co. did some props for the LOST production - Sawyer's glasses, bombs etc. And they did one of my favorites, which my friend gave me a few of, the DHARMA Fish Biscuit. His co. also did props for HEROS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Jeff Dunham Puppets, movies, Batman: Dead End - He's a great, talented guy.

Forgot to mention, the Fish Biscuit is a very hard cookie, edible and has a bit of a Gingerbread flavor to them.
