Looper Gold Bars

we'll have to wait for the Covid crisis to die down but afterwards we'll see how it goes. Getting a good amount of interest so will probably do a run

sure. Here's an update. The local place where I was going to have my bars gold plated went out of business (probably because of pandemic but can not confirm) soooooooooooo...... looks like I will be saving up for some gold plating equipment and learning how to do it myself :)

I have a set of 3 silver bars, some bank notes and Joe’s micro cellphone. Arguably a very small collection from an awesome, original movie. Also very small in the sense that I would love to expand it if you catch my drift ;)
where did you pick up your micro cellphone? got any photos to show?

Slight update here. I haven't pulled the trigger on getting a gold plating kit yet, but in the mean time I have started on the sister-project to this one. Here's a mold positive for the Looper Silver Ingot that I'm going to be making. I'll eventually be making Lost wax investment casts and making metal versions. This is a clean version, meant to look like a properly cast silver ingot. After I get the setup nailed down I'll move on to making a roughed up version as well that is more in line with the screen used prop bars.

Here's a look at the first round of gold plating on a 1 kg bar. takes a good amount of cleaning and buffing to get a good end result. The black in the recesses is buffing compound that I couldn't get out. If anyone has any advice on how best to remove that, acid bath cleaning or something akin to that please feel free and share :)

Have you tried Goof Off Pro Strength spray? I've had incredible luck with it in general and have used it on small-moderate amounts of buffing compound with decent results. Might be worth a try.

Your bar looks great!
