Looking for Suggestions - Dr. Midnite

Greetings,

This is my first post on here, though I've been lurking for a couple years. So bear with me (and offer suggestions) if I'm doing this incorrectly.

I'm working on a Dr. Midnite costume (Charles McNider from the Golden Age JSA version) and am trying to figure out the chest piece. I cannot decide if it's a jerkin, tabard, waistcoat or medieval vest since there seems to be a lot of crossover (at least in titling) with those. If all else fails, I'll just cut the pattern and sew, but I figured there would be leather versions out there which may be just as easy to acquire. Anyone have any thoughts recommendation on what to call it (each of these search terms have brought up variations of this but not quite what I want, and the more accurate I can be the better results I get).

Later, I'll get into the rest and post pictures. The blackout bombs should be fun. ;-)

That is one of my favorite her costumes. Considering the buccaneer boots and gauntlets I believe he wears a red leather jerkin.

Can't wait for this. I started reading JSA because I fell in love with this character through his costume and how it was represented in the DCUC figure. I think it's a jerkin too based on the rest of the costume and the action figure.
