Not a case but still a display. I made this.

Me personally, I hate the single case displays. I don't want my collection looking like a museum.

Unfortunately I have a bunch of them because of my MR items. I feel compelled to use them because, I know that probably $100 of the MSRP of the item was due to the display case. However, I do not display my other fan made lightsaber hilts in such a way. If I had my way, my collection would be displayed like the walls of Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities at Galaxy's Edge but that sort of thing is not realistic for a growing and changing collection and other issues as well.

I think individual cases are okay if you intend to have one or two hilts. But if you intend to have a large collection or change out your collection, you should have a method that allows you to add and subtract without much issue or expense. Cases can get pricey. For each hilt you get, a case or separate stand can add up and I would rather use that money toward other prop replicas.

If you are looking to protect the hilts from dust, I think it is more cost efficient to buying a Ikea cabinet and putting in the lower cost high tiered acrylic stands or what I do, interesting looking wine racks. With the the right rack, you could display 32 hilts in the cabinet (2x racks per shelves holding 4 each. And if you do not have 32 hilts to display, you can just put other SW items or props among the display. But at least it is easy to add to change your collection without continuing to invest in cases.

You make a fair point. It would be much cheaper to acquire something like this:

And then fill it with all the props and have a display that looks like:

I don't know. I think the thing for me is that I do like the Museum look and I don't see my collection getting much bigger, however whenever I say something like that it means my collection is only getting started lol. You've got me quite torn now as on the one hand, a display shelf is future-proof for more items and cheaper to acquire, but on the other hand it's fixed and I would still need to buy a base for each hilt anyway to sit on. I'm gonna have to think more on this as looking at that Amazon one it's honestly perfect. Thanks for the advice.

That’s a cool idea. The display in Dok-Ondars feels has a really fun in-world feeling.

I personally like the museum style and actively strive for it. Haha. I don’t know, I think it subconsciously triggers something in my brain that signals importance. So seeing a Luke lightsaber in that setting makes me feel like a kid again in some respects “Oh, this is Luke’s real lightsaber!”

I’m still trying to figure the best stand. I like the MR-style stand a lot, but I need something that can save room. Ive trimmed down my collection recently, but I still have something like 25 lightsabers I want to display this way, so I need a a few multi saber stands that take up a small footprint.

Honestly, if I had the room this is exactly the type of set up I’d go for.

Yeah man I'm so split now, starting to think a display cabinet might be the better option as much as I love the Master Replicas style display. To get 6 individual ones would cost me north of £200 ($270). Seems I could get 4 cabinets for the same price which as 'Mara Jade's Father' said, leaves money to put towards other things.

If I had the room, I would just dedicate the whole space to Star Wars like this guy lol:

There is my next pet peeve… cases In cases… ugggh.

For me, Prop replicas are meant to be grabbed, touched, wielded. I mean isn’t that the real reason we want these things in the first place. We wanted that little piece of sensation from what we see on screen. The museum display just yells… Don’t touch!

And that is fine display case aif that’s all you are getting or you have plenty of room. My way fits more into a smaller space.

Not a case in a case, I meant something more like this:

Just to prop it up and allow space for the plaque.

At some point I will relocate this rack and display the cased sabers in it. Most sabers can just be on a stand, but I think some are special and deserve a case.

Personally I prefer the cabinet, because I handle my hilts. Now if I ended up with an actual production used prop at some point then I’d be seriously considering a case for that specific piece

The feeling of owning a screen used prop must be insane, like that guy with the V2. I'd hire an armed guard if I owned that. A cabinet should do until that day.
