I have been planning to do a light suit costume for a long while, but just recently have been able to start slowly grabbing the supplies I will need
Every paycheck, I can grab one more piece to start.
I would love some pre-starting feedback on what I am going to do if anyone has any!
My current plan is to start by making a duct tape dummy of myself(complete dummy minus my head. so from neck all the way to the bottoms of my feet),after that, I have a lycra suit that I can stretch over the dummy. From there I am going to take liquid latex (Monster Makers or Liquid Latex) and put about 2 layers on it. From there I will uses pieces of cloth to slowly build up details on the actual suit (Quorra, Multiple, Tron) taking ideas from everyone (The point being to make my own original light suit.)
once I have some details going and a basic outline of where I will be putting the El Wire/El Tape, I plan to wire the lights up to the suit (which will require taking it off the dummy and that Will be the first test to see how well its actually going/fits hahah) I am currently drawing up my own light design for my suit, which is proving to be more difficult then planned, but I'll come upon something I like.
Once I get all the wiring done (plan to have the wire running through a black small casing that I would cover in latex to the inverter where my light disc will be held), I will make sure it is seated on the suit properly, glue it down, build up the detail around the electroluminescent lights so it is level, and put a little bit of latex over the edges of the lights to assure it looks smooth and is held nicely. As well as doing small strips of latex finely done over certain parts of the el lights.
After Letting it set and dry,I will go over the parts that have less latex on them (the parts that are supposed to look more like cloth) and be painting a pattern on it. Look Closely Here (sadly it is easiest to see on his crotch.. lol)
Finally I will probably do multiple clear coats of protectant over it just to make sure.
I'll be making a list of what I am doing to make this easier to read as well soon lol
I will update this as I go with pictures of the process, my light design, any future plans, etc.
