Life sized V.I.N.CENT. buildup tutorial

Can't wait to get my kit!!!

Every time I see pics of your build, I can't believe there isn't one of these someplace at a Disney theme park with full animatronics.

In the back-ground of the first pic, is that a robby the robot torso?!?

Hey, guys, wanted to post a quick update! Thanks for all the compliments! Can't wait to see what Braddock001 does with his! Considering some of the other things I've seen him build, I'm sure it will be amazing!

Glad you like the kit, Mark! :) By the way, any Black Hole fans that haven't picked up one of Mark's amazing Palomino patches, you better grab one while they are available! They look fantastic. Here are some update photos...

There are still a few rough edges that need to be filled and touched up here and there, such as the bottom edge of the hat, but V.I.N.CENT. is progressing. The head and hat are just stacked on a board in the body in these shots, with the head armature in place everything will be straight in the finished assembly. :)

I gotta get one of these sooner or later. :thumbsup

Very nice.

Thanks again for the plug of the patches Bill!!

Your newest VINCent looks great- seems right at home in your yard too!

I'm hoping to catch up to you soon- got a long way to go though:

Bill your attention to detail is amazing- after getting the detail parts from you recently, I was puzzled by the belveling on the end of the 'leg rings' that mate with the body; I looked at the reference pics and sure enough- there it is! Even when I started my own VINCent scratch build a few years ago and stared at every picture I could find, I never caught that.

Hello, everyone. I finally have some more progress pics of the V.I.N.CENT. buildup I am working on. I must apologize for my long absence between posts. I have been busy with taking care of family. Last year my mother underwent surgery and chemotherapy for cancer. Since then she has been in and out of the hospital many times. I am her sole caretaker so I have been terribly busy looking after her. The last two years I have been a bit overwhelmed with the responsibilities of caring for her. This week she is having another surgery, this time to have her thyroid removed. I'm hoping once she gets on the thyroid hormone her overall health will start to improve.

Anyway, back to V.I.N.CENT. I have been trying to figure out the best paint scheme for V.I.N.CENT., I decided on a Hammered Silver and primer in one for the main body by Krylon. I had tried Rustoleum, but could not get the uniform hammered texture that I did with the Krylon. For the panels, I am using Rustoleum Almond. The key is prepping the surface to ensure maximum adhesion of the paint. I surface sanded all the fiberglass surfaces then used Duplicolor Self Etching Primer to get a good bond with the paint. For the black surfaces I used Rustoleum Textured Black, It gives a very flat sheen that is a nice contrast to the Silver. For the red, I used Rustoleum Regal Red.

Great to see an update.

Absolutely stunning work Bill, VINCent is looking amazing. The paint work looks just right, especially the red sections. Thoughts to you and your family, hoping for a swift recovery for your mother.
