Life sized V.I.N.CENT. buildup tutorial

SOOOOOOOOOOOO Jelouse :( Wanted to make a VINCENT for years!!! Wish I could of gotten on of the kits :( Looks sensational...

Just a quick bump, still working on the first buildup, just been really busy with shipping orders and trying to get things done for the holiday season. More pics will be coming soon.

Hi Bill,

Just a question, while I eagerly await my kit.

I gather that the support pole you have him sitting on is also screwed into a base of some kind. Did you add weight to the base to keep V.I.N.CENT from toppling over, and if so, how much?

Thanks,

C

Hey, Cam!

I didn't add any weight to the base, I just used a 24" diameter table top, it's thick and heavy enough to where it gives the piece some stability. You could topple it over, but it would take a great deal of effort. The kit won't topple over if someone bumps into V.I.N.CENT. or brushes past him. I bolted another pipe flange to the wooden base to accept the pipe he's suspended on.

Hey, Guys, sorry it has been so long since my last update. I've had a lot going on, my Mom has been going through chemotherapy for the last six months. She's got that behind her and is doing better now, so I'm trying to get back into the full swing of things. My first buildup is slowly progressing.

I had a slight setback, the primer did not stick properly to the gelcoat, so I stripped it back down and gave everything a thorough surface sanding, to roughen the surface up slightly, then sprayed him with Duplicolor adhesion promoter, then used self etching primer primer over that. The basecoat did very well this time, and is sticking.

I plan to start painting the black areas and the almond colored panels in the next few days if the weather permits. I also have the prototypes for the light panels on the sides (turn signal looking things) and for the inside of the gun boxes. Just need to get them cast up in clear.

More updates in the next few days.

Wow, that looks absolutely incredible. What the name of that specific colour of red?

Wow! It looks really great! My daughter saw it, too; now I REALLY need to save up, cause SHE wants it! :)
