if my bb comes as nice as jeyl's ill be perfectly happy .
THe problem i see is if the droop is suppose to be there , then the straighter "better" rifles are the defects . they are just setting them selves up to fail . lets face it we are there target demo , they need to make this right or they are done , who will buy from them again if they try and screw us out of a grand and to matt and tom i understand you guys are proud of these , and besides the droop they look great , but they promised one thing , and are clearly delivering another , it makes no difference what it cost , if i was buying this only for the shrouds . then i wouldnt care , but thats not why i"m buying it , so it needs to be as promised .

Jeyl, to me yours looks good, but I wanted to ask you what on your pulse rifle were you using as a straight edge? I wouldn't go by the top of the shroud, but rather the pic Noble put up on post #852. I'm not sure those shrouds are 100% straight in relation to the rest of the rifle.

You could have a stunt man or actor, featured in a long shot, that has to use a functioning prop, since the scene calls for a firing weapon, but since the shot is a long shot, it may not have the same detail as the "Hero Prop"

Alternatively, you could also have a Hero prop, used for a tight shot, that may not be functional.

Hence, why it has nothing to do with functionality and everything to do with Detail level..

Absolutely incorrect. Try bidding it out that way at a prop shop in Hollywood for a firearm. Let me know how that works out for you.
 
fwiw, on the call sheets, production only referred to the weapons in two classes:

"Dummy Pulse Guns" (resin)

and

"Practical Pulse Guns" (metal)
 
On productions, I rarely, if ever, hear of a prop referred to as a background prop. Here in the States it's pretty much hero or stunt. Now in the UK in the mid 80s, they may have used different terms, but the meaning's the same.

Well, I figure I'd post my thoughts on how this rifle holds up and get the first bit out of the way.

Even when looked at closely, it's hard to tell that it has droopage. I can safely say that this particular construction is a keeper.

Now on to the fun details!

TRIGGERS
- The Primary Trigger moves! And best of all, it retracts when pressed back. That's a lot more than MR did with their Stormtrooper blaster (Would have kept that if it moved). The only downside is that it feels like a wooden trigger, and that kind of worries me. Not that it's wooden, but because it's fragile. If the spring goes, eek. Don't want to think about that. In short, being able to pull the trigger on my dream weapon was very satisfying and a bit fulfilling.
- The Grenade Trigger moves, but does not retract. This is where I had to back off because like the primary trigger, it was made of a material that felt like wood. Unlike the primary trigger, it was a LOT thinner. The darn thing feels like it will break if used to much, so be very careful when using it.

PUMP ACTION
- The Grenade Launcher not only moves, but it also has some nifty components on the inside that moves as well! The silver painted shell moves along with the pump, and it looks very accurate. The shell on closer inspection is pretty much made of the same material that the triggers are made of (What is that?!), but it gets the job done nicely. If anyone has issues with the pump itself being too loose, just tighten those two screws on the pump itself. I did that and I now have zero issues. Not too tight though or it will scrape the sides! While it doesn't sound like the awesome sound of a shotgun caulking, what we have here is still passable. It's the feeling more than the sound though.
- The Thompson Caulker (My vocab sucks) is almost the same as the Grenade launcher. Pulling it back will make the inner components pull back as well, and it retracts well without being too intrusive. The only hard part is caulking it back all the way, cause it likes to get trapped in something 3/4 of the way. Not a big deal. It still leaves a satisfying gun like caulk noise if pulled back and released quickly.

PAINT
- The Brown Bess paint job is strong and solid. I found no scratches, marks or defects on this lovely lady. Kind of makes me worry about the non-counter side when I put it on the display for fear that it will wear the paint off over time. I like to play with my replicas. :cool

SPAS
- This is probably where it all went wrong. While the droop level is evident at some angles up close, you can clearly tell that the material used to make the SPAS is to blame. It looks as though the whole SPAS was made in two parts with each side, and since these were not made of metal, there are some very obvious differences in how they come together. One side for instance is very straight, where the non-counter side has some slopping going on. It is my belief that when these were made, they were either formed improperly or combined with the pulse rifle too early and the resulting heat or pressure from the manufacturing caused the barrel to droop down a bit. The SPAS on mine is still pretty straight though. I'd like to know if there would have been any difference had it been metal.

MAGAZINE
- Let it be known that Hollywood Collectibles needs to work on their electronics, cause what I had to deal with here is embarrassing. After about 10 insertions of the magazine into the Pulse Rifle, the darn thing actually got STUCK and I was unable to get it out! I later uncovered that the compartment which holds the battery is only fixated in the magazine by...../drumroll....hot glue. When I removed the battery casing, there was absolutely no trace of hot glue on the plastic where it was all gooped up on the magazine. I chipped it away and used Epoxy instead. Hope HGC don't mind.
- Magazine wise, it's pretty easy to fit into the pulse rifle. The only drawback is that it's completely held in place by magnets, so there's a likely hood it will shake if you press up against it. The entire manner in how the magazine works is kind of crude, but, like the grenade pump it gets the job done.

I didn't get the menstrual reference either - we all have a right to be upset. I'd like to actually see a little more support, advocacy, and corroboration from the RPF's resident PR gurus - the fact that they consulted for HCG (paid? volunteered) notwithstanding.

No delivery today, so my apprehension stretches into tomorrow. :unsure I find the lack of tracking numbers quite unprofessional.

Sorry, I lost your meaning - do you mean you're both about to distance yourselves from this thread or wash your hands of the problem? If there's a conflict of interest, I get that, but I'd appreciate some clarifications, because you guys lent me the confidence to make my purchase of this replica, and as I see it, either one or both of you got it wrong or HCG did. I think we're entitled to some answers, and it's already Day Five of this mess with zero communications from HCG and hardly a peep from you.

Ok I've been following this thread for a long time now and can no longer keep my mouth shut. Like a lot of peeps on here I've had a OD PR on pre order since the beginning. And unfortunately like everybody now the excitement has turned into dread as I await the arrival of my PR. I live in Southern Cali so its gonna take some extra days to find out if my PR is "drooped" or just "not too bad". I'm finally jumping into this because I've noticed some things that I feel should be addressed.

Tommin. I don't know who you are or anything about you other than whatever you have on your site. So please don't take anything I say personal or as an attack against you. By the way I've been a fan of your site for years.

With that being said I strongly feel your response to Vader's Right Hand is way out of line. The guy is saying what most of us feel. We bought a product (a very expensive product) they promised to be the best and are delivering something else. That would upset anybody....even you I suppose.

Which brings me to something else. Again I've been following this thread and especially the other one you started when you recieved the one of the first PR's to hit US soil. I understand you are a builder, modeler, collector etc. and your 5 star review of the PR was very indepth. Everyone seemed to fully respect you and the review because of who you are. But I noticed something odd.

The pictures you posted of it clearly showed the droopage problem. Once somebody pointed it out the lens distortion debate started. People asked you if the PR you had was drooping....I noticed you never truly answered the question. The last I read was you said something about your camera and also said you were gonna pull the beast back out to examine it. Nothing was said after that so the topic faded. So please answer the question: Does the PR you were given by HCG droop like most of the rest so far? I have some theories as to why you never answered the question.

1. You never noticed it and when somebody pointed it out you realized it and felt rediculous for giving a 5 star review. For saying how thoroughly you examined it and being who you are missing something like that ruins some of your credibility. Seriously if thats true how the hell would you miss that?

2. You did notice it but played "dumb" cause after waiting forever and getting the hook up from HCG you didn't want to man up, be honest and say its defective. If thats true I cant blame you cause being in your position to be the first reviewer, especially with lots of us holding our breath, it would be really hard to say it. I mean some purchased it based on your stellar review.

Thats pretty much it. I noticed you were gone for awhile and upon returning seeing whats going on surprising (or not). You did say you didn't want to say anything until a official chimes in and I can understand that. That does however support theory #2. Whatever I swear I have no bad blood against you. I just noticed some things I feel needed to be addressed. Like I said I've been a fan of your site for a long time. I went nuts when you gave it such a high review. So please stop being shady and answer the question with picture evidence. If your PR is perfect then disregard anything I've said and I will put my foot in my mouth.

To me it seems the attitude is that since we got an accurate rifle for $1000 with metal shrouds, we should be happy regardless of what may be wrong with it.
