Licensed Pulse Rifle pre-order

I don't think so.

Probably they used the Brown Bess for color matching only.

I'm mostly reffering to the actual type of paint than the color of paint. Over at the Tracking Tube Junkyard entry, SD Studios states that the Brown Bess humbrol paint does not hold up well when dry, but the OD lacquer is very sturdy and very durable. I asked why they don't make Brown Bess in lacquer and people said they can't make them.

So if that's the case, I thought maybe the same problems with the Brown Bess paint used on the Pulse Rifle would yield the same results that SD had. Less durable and not meant for use.

Humbrol Brown Bess doesn't exist anymore, so a lot of people use remaining tins

for color matching purposes if they need to spray a lot of BB.

The factory making these rifles are almost certainly are not using humbrol paint.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Just saw a new auction from Secret Compess that is offering full refunds if they do not ship within 30 days. Wonder if this is just following eBay rules or they have some insider info...

If I am not mistaken, Bronze Armoury had seven available and have already sold them off through ebay. This wasn't a pre-order. It was cash and carry. That is, if I was reading the description correctly.

Mark (aka Hollywood-Collectibles),

I have a question that a number of people are concerned about and would really appreciate a direct answer. It seems HCG's details regarding the "aluminum" shrouds is a bit vague and there is a concern about the exact nature of what the shrouds are and how they are made. I know reference to "molds" was made in regard to the shrouds but if possible, I would really like to know (actually a number of concerned customers would like to know) could you elaborate on the shrouds? Are the shrouds pressed aluminum? Are they machined aluminum? Are they cast as previously implied and if so, how are they cast and with what materials? Finally, are the shrouds made of cold cast aluminum/resin? Please don't take this as an accusation or as trying to stir up trouble... just a concerned customer who would appreciate a direct answer. Thanks in advance!

Well the 16th has come and gone with no requests for our final payments. Now the waiting begins. Anyone ave any inside information as to when the rifles will be ready? I'm not impatient, just curious....well, ok, maybe a teeny bit impatient. This is my grail prop after all.

I was in contact with them yesterday about an issue with my order and all they would say is that we will get charged the final payment 2 weeks before they are due to ship out, which won't be until they have them. They would not say when that would be.

Ooo. I cannot take this anymore! This is my 'end all be all' replica I've been waiting for since Icons announced theirs more than a decade ago.

I know what you mean. I've been wanting one of these for a long time and had been thinking about getting one of the Airsoft or Icons versions that pop up on Ebay now and then, but I would never go through with the purchase.

I only have one payment of about $200.00 left on this and even though I just lost my job, I'm still going to keep it. I know I would kick myself later if I didn't buy now.

I just received this email response from Mark at Hollywood Collectibles to my question, quoted below.

Hi Art,

All we can divulge at the moment is that the shrouds will be aluminum, as in the metal, not a resin/aluminum mix. If we were going to go that route we would have used fiberglass which would be better than a resin mix.

Best,

Mark

Still a bit vague but at least he said it isn't a resin/aluminum mix which makes me feel a lot better.

Yes, they will have a plaque, and yes they will be numbered.

Should be able to get you matching numbers. Remind me nearer the time and I will make it happen.

Mark

With this on the horizon, I figure I better bring this back up. Mark, what info do you need to get matching numbers on my bess brown and olive drab PRs? :love

Art,

Did they give any idea when these are likely to ship. I'm presuming not til the new year now?

I would have liked mine for Chrissymus but I'm not expecting that now.

Cheers

Jez

What I posted was all they said. I know the guys over at the Aliens Legacy board have been asking and basically getting no solid answer on a time. I don't want to start digging dirt but I can't help but wonder if the vague answer on the shrouds and the pushed back release don't have something to do with one another... of course that is pure speculation...

Where did you guys see that the shipping date had been pushed back? It still says Estimated to ship 4th Quarter 2009 on the web site.

When I spoke with them a couple of days ago about another issue with my order, they would not say when they are shipping, they just said we would be notified to pay our last payment 2 weeks before they were due to ship out.

The second part of the above message doesn't make much sense. The shrouds being a cover over a weapon (Thompson) means that it has to be thin and strong. It it were not hand pounded out of aluminum sheets and not polymer or carbon fiber and not stamped or die-cast aluminum, it pretty much has to be fiberglass, and not just resin. Everyone here knows fiberglass is laid up with a gel coat. That gel coat is the resin. When aluminum (real) powder is mixed into the resin then laid up over glass -- that's what Art was asking -- that it had better not be made out of that.

Anyways despite that if what was meant by that message was to eliminate the possibility that the shrouds are to be made out of real aluminum (powder) mixed into the gel coat of fiberglass then that's fine.

You gotta love that "what we can divulge at this point ..". We gone over this on other boards -- you never ever see another mechanical product like this being marketed with people paid up with final payments already and the product due to ship next where the materials the product is made out of was left to speculation.
