Monster Island News: New Legendary Pictures GODZILLA Design To Be Revealed At Comic Con?

Well, he doesn't look like an iguana.

If this is real, I need to see more then just a painting to decide.

What's with the big dorsal fin spike shooting off to the side?

The painting isn't very good to tell what's going on with this design but at least it is recognizable as Godzilla and not some damn dinosaur or lizard.

long dorsal fin? you mean his tail?

his tail wraps all the way around

Yeah I'm just not feeling it, from that particular picture. For one, it looks like it should be painted on the side of a van. :lol

And the anatomy is wonky... doesn't "feel" right. :unsure

Godzilla is a tough balance though... you want a dynamic creature for today's video-game fueled action audience, and yet the soul of Godzilla is the man in the suit, the stately walker with the fat belly and thighs, who turns to the side occasionally to incinerate a maser cannon truck with a fiery blast of atomic breath... :)

:lol Now that you mention it, it DOES look like something painted on a van! "Hey baby, wanna go see my radioactive creature? It's huge. Huh huh huh."

I strongly suspect that whoever ends up directing this Godzilla picture will have something to say about the design of Godzilla.

Directors are funny that way.

That's just a terrible painting.

The posing is forced and awkward. The elements are angled very oddly.

I can't believe that it official. Looks like bad fan artwork.

I wouldn't even refer to it as a painting per se. Looks more like a quick-&-dirty photoshop comp someone at the production company kluged together at the last minute for comic-con.

One thing's for sure; no studio marketing department or independent ad agency had anything to do with this.

I like this a hell of a lot more then that other Americanized Godzilla, that's for sure. I think both Toho and Hollywood learned enough last time to get an American Godzilla movie right this time.

Hey I'm trying to be hopeful here! :lol
