Hey everyone,
I am making a latex body suit and I bought some liquid latex but I need to color it. How do I go about mixing in a color. Right now the color is skin color and I need it to be a darker brownish-green color. Thanks!

I have always just used acrylic paints. Mix your color in a bowl,if its to thick just thin with distilled water. Get it to the color/shade you need and then add it to your latex.
If the dried latex piece ends up being to light or to dark you can always airbrush over it with a darkened shade,or a lighten up shade of the same color.:thumbsup

You know I was kind of wondering something similar. Goldenrod seems to have a handle on this, so not to hijack but I just bought a Micheal Myers mask (clearance after Halloween) and it was the plain white version. I did a complete repaint with acrylic colors using a brush. It looks TONS better but my concern is will the acrylic paint crack over time?

The Myers mask.

Probably not , But if the overlying repainted area is to thick, then there may be some
concern of it giving you some crackling of the paint later down the road.

As for my mask paint mix. I start out with 4 parts acrylic paint - add 1 part latex, then mix the two.

I then begin to thin with water. Enough so it's brushable.
I use this for my base color coat. Using a hand brush.

I thin my base mix with more water for my airbrush also adding a drop or two of darker or lightercolors for shades/ highlights etc.

As for painting a body suit. I say go half/half with the latex/paint mix
since you'll be needing some extra flex with all the movement needed.

Just my 2 cents...

It is very difficult to get accurate colour results mixing paint into liquid latex, and adding too much will have an adverse effect on the stretch and flex capabilities of the rubber.

For painting on latex I mix a little prosthetic adhesive with acrylic paint. Add water and airbrush medium and it will go through an airbrush.
