Last season for "Smallville"

Just read over on Mania.com about this being Smallville's last season.

I did not know this was the last season. WILL we see CK in the red and blue spandex as the last shot of the show?

I saw the Superman Returns version in a commercial for Smallville last night. It is in ice or some sort of crystal container in the Fortress I believe. I think it would be awesome to hint at it throughout the season and have him appear in it at the end of last episode. Then they could transition him into the role as Superman for the next movie.

Chris Nolan is said to be Producing Superman next (IMDB). I heard it is more like Godfathering it. That would be comforting either way.

I've been a fan of this show since it first aired. I remember the ship key being a big thing around here. I will def. miss this show. I don't think the makers even thought it would last this long

I have heard conflicting info. Obviously, now that the promos are out, we know the SUIT will be in the show. What I have not heard decisively is if you will see Tom IN the suit. Watch the videos from Comicon and listen closely. Nobody ever says "you will see Tom wear the suit". They say "you will see the suit".

Same with all the print articles.

yeah but they want him to be hip and popular and all the kids watching the show remember that suit and not Reeves'. Personally since this is a new take on supes i'd like to see their own suit design instead so it fits into this world.

I PERSONALLY think they will do it. For years there was all kinds of fan speculation that WB was legally forbidding them from doing it. I never heard anything like that from the production team, but what do I know. I think they just didn't want to head down that path.

From what I have heard at the various panels, it ALMOST sounds as if season ten will show him in the suit a bunch. The party line has historically been that the show is "about Clark's journey, and the things he does to become that man someday". This has switched to "Clark has finished his journey". Makes me think that we may see a full on superman adventure or two before the show wraps.

Which I would totally dig.

Nothing about Superman Returns was "hip and popular" with the kids. Kids wouldn't even know the difference. I'd rather see a Dean Cain costume and that gawdy Brandon Routh number.

lol. The dean Cain one was a bit closer to the original movie one. Heck they could put him in the George Reeve costume and it would be better than the Superman returns one. I think it would be neat to see something a bit inspired by the bat suits in the new movies or x-men movies where they aren't just spandex.

Suit speculation aside, I'm glad the show is in it's last season. I don't think for a minute that this is the end of Superman on television, look at how many different takes they've had in the last 60 years from animated to live action. I'm eager to see where they go next with the character. Batman too, well, Batman even more. A dark, conflicted vigilante without powers is more interesting than a goody two-shoes with virtual invulnerability.

I want to see a slightly darker superman. something realistic as you know he'd be just as conflicted in real life than the goody goody in the comics. I mean what if he accidentally killed someone? That would rock his world if he started off a a good goody.

Yes! That suit is an abomination. They need to take ques from the Reeve suite, or maybe even Cain's suit. I wouldn't mind if they had someone like Alex Ross put together a decent design.
