Ladies can be Iron Man too (everything but the shoulders, pg 35)

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (chest, abs, neck, bicep done))

Welcome to the Dark side! Oh I mean the Foam side! Bwhahahahaha!!!

Ok, lets get serious, great work so far there Amanda! I think your on the right track with combining patterns, but I think you should learn to cut angles or bevel cuts as I call them, then the heat bending won't be as necessary.

Great clean work so far, I'll be watching you with great interest!:)

It's looking very good. Please don't get discouraged by small things. You'll get it worked out in the long run. :)

Your work on the armor is phenominal. Your skill is evident, I'd love to see more about the foam and construction. Looking forward to seeing more progress.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (chest, abs, neck, bicep done))

this is looking AMAZING and totally inspiring!!!

I'm so excited to see how this all comes together...you're seriously making me want to try to make my own for Halloween!!!

If you don't mind me asking, how porous is that foam? Is it like spongey foam or craft foam sheet type foam? I'm planning on making some armor for an upcoming costume and have been trying to figure out what to use to make a breastplate type upper suit thing... how do you plan on finishing/painting yours?

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (in-progress helmet pg 10)

Yes, the flex shaft for a Dremel is worth every penny.

Somehow I just ran across this post last week. The next day I ordered one. A couple of days later I got it and hooked it up.

I just wanted you to know that as I gleefully ground things down with precision and without fatigue, your words echoed in my head. I agree wholeheartedly. Thanks to everyone else who concurred. :)

Looking great! I'd like to do a lady War Machine myself. Not going to be at Dragon Con by any chance, are you?

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (chest, abs, neck, bicep done))

No progress today (first week of school) but I DID put together this little video of me working on the helmet. I really hope I can keep up and do this vlog thingy even if it means the content is a little behind where I actually am! Ladies Can Be Iron Man Too THE MOVIE!!

love Iron Man in a dress!:thumbsup your link goes to the bad place BTW

Oh damn, you're right. Thanks for the heads up, I'll fix it as soon as I'm done typing this up :]

I'm really excited that you like it! As for priming, I'm going to coat it with PVA glue then hit it with some plastidip. I've seen some other foam builders get pretty good results that way.

Looks great. you are doing this yourself right...lol
Besides the guys who made the original files, yup.

I am, actually!

thanks everyone, your support really keeps me going!

Oh sweet! If I decide to do a War Machine for DCon I'll try to remember to message you before, we should get some pictures together.

Sanding with files? That's a new one. I have seen people do detail work with files but sanding an entire area of bondo? Cool idea. Does it work well?

Oh totally! That would be really cool.

It works beautifully, keeps everything pretty symmetrical.

That's some good work!!!

Thanks!

Talk about coming late to the party. This post has been going for awhile. Nice to see that girl in the Cap uniform is a true builder and not just another pretty face. Great work so far. I just finished painting a pre fab Iron Man helmet to resemble the Caps colors. Kind of an in between project while I build the Avengers Cap costume.

Side note: Natasha Stark is the Iron Woman in Marvel universe, her and Steve Rogers (Captain America) are actually married which stops the civil war from happening.

Her armor had no male or female shape to it and she was married in it.

Again great work in general, man or woman.
