I'm not one to teach!! lol I'm still just a newbie..but welcome home <3

I have some extra foam about a 1/4th thick if you want it. Glad to help you out.

Plastazote or EVA? Either way, it's very kind of you to offer!

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (new pics page 18!!)

Can't decide if I should order 6 mm foam or 12 mm :( anyone with experience?

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (new pics page 18!!)

I'm working on a totally different set of armor, but it seems to me that an Iron Man suit would have a lot of detail that couldn't be achieved with 1/2" thick foam.

2:08 AM????? And here I thought you were asleep!! :lol I'm looking forward to see what you can do with this foam. If the pep work you've done so far is any indication, I'm sure it will be great.

I think you may be on to something there, Risu. Lol the thinner stuff it is then!

For a helmet and closer fitting armor, I'd use 6mm with 3mm for adding surface details. 1/2" or 12mm is good for bigger, bulkier items or props that you don't need to get inside of.

Thanks for the luck and same to you!

What foam will you be using..

I was thinking using a foam, then do a red or black carbon fiber cloth over it just for coolness ?

I hear the thing to go with is plastazote LD45 . It can be bent and stretched with heat so a lot of the less-than-attractive join lines can be eliminated. It looks really really cool, though a tad expensive. Right now I can only find a lot of it from the UK.

Carbon fiber is an interesting idea, I've never seen anyone do that D:

Great work so far keep the project going. i look forward to seeing more progress

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (new pics page 18!!)

:( false start. I had to replace my car keys so it'll be a bit before I can afford foam. Uhhg.

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (new pics page 18!!)

So it's about time I started posting about this. A few weeks ago, I started over on my Iron Man suit. Completely from scratch. With Matt's help and a more serious approach I hope I can finish it up quickly. Foam was ordered for the body two weeks ago but hasn't shown up so I've been plugging away at the new helmet.

I've been hesitant to post my progress here in case of another false-start. But I'm really confident that this helmet is going to be done soon-- the majority of the helmet has the rough bondoing done with only the details and jaw left to do! I also hope to be posting in this thread frequently to keep myself motivated. Hope you guys stick with me through this over-due build!

::EDIT:: whoops, pic is gone!

Re: Ladies can be Iron Man too (brand new start, page 24)

I feel your pain, I too have rebuilt several parts of my suit thus far, and there are some days I want to just throw in the towel, but if there is one thing that keeps me motivated is the members of the RPF, so glad your back on this and we are all here for you !
