L2A3 barrel and bayonet info

Hey guy's. Continuing on my L2A3 build. (Not going to be converted to an E-11 but be displayed as a L2A3.)

Anyway. My parts kit did not come with a barrel. Can not afford a real one and really do not want one anyway. Going to make a solid aluminum one. Anyone have a barrel they would be willing to measure for me? Just all the outside features.

Also, anyone have a trashed No.5 bayonet or a resin one? I know re-pop's are under $50 but my budget is limited. Hoping to get my hands on a bayonet to properly place the bayonet lug.

Thanks

M

Well if no one gets you the measurements for the barrel I try to get it tomorrow...

As for the bayonet the real ones are worth gold even in the trashed state, a repo is your best bet...

Here is the barrel profile, don't have the actual parts handy right now, but this at least gives you and idea on the profile and overall shape...

Overall total length: 7.849 inches
Rear circular support/chamber area diameter: 1.367 inches
" Flat area to opposite far side of circle: 1.224 inches
" Support area is 0.25 inches thick
Barrel length between front support and rear support: 7.027 inches
Barrel diameter tapers from 0.701 inches in back to 0.600 inches in front
Front support bar: 0.312 inches thick
" circular end diameter: 1.324 inches
" width across top/bottom flats: 0.677 inches
" setback of front of bar from end of barrel: @ 0.25 inches
" bolt holes set approx 0.956 inches apart & threaded for metric head cap screws that go on from the outside and seen on the 'nose cap' of the casing

Thanks guy's. I think with this and the images from TGOD i can make a resonable stand in.

Your also right on the No.5. They are expensive. I may have to just go for it with the bayonet lug and hope for the best...

Look for RFI ones, they are the Indians models, same thing but alot cheaper because they are more common. Quality is roughly the same.

Well, I don't have a L2A3 bayonet. But I do have the rest all fixed up. Started from a de-commissioned parts kit for my display Sterling. I don't have any real plans to turn it into an E-11 either even though I do have all of the correct parts to do so. When I rebuilt it I resisted the urge to' "restore" the piece. Instead going for a used and beat up look that it already had going on.
