Kylo Ren Fabric

Was certainly worth a look but I still think chenille is not a match for the fabric as well the weave looks to tight and would be hard pressed to ever look like worsted cotton yarn

I believe I am about to purchase one of your buckles for the belt very soon.

ace ! The price is a little crazy after shapeways adds shipping and such I am going to be casting that buckle for a run in the next 2 weeks
right on I shall hold off then and can't wait to see what you get for the bucket. I'm waiting to see how the local 501st guys are doing with it.

I hope it's not to late to chip in for the custom fabric. I'd be in gor as much as is recommended.

Here's my take on the fabric layers:

Top coat: cotton

Mid coat: (inner material of outer coat) wool. I saw a photo of the cotume from Anaheim where a corner of the inside of the topcoat was visible. I'll post my source once I find it again :)

Under Tunic with sleeves: cotton
Can anyone confirm?

If any someone finds an accurately woven fabric and creates a complete screen accurate costume I'd be interested in hiring them to make one for me as well. Thank you!

So... we have PLEATS all the way!

this was also seen on the black series toy figure... now its confirmed by the Vanity fair shoot.

Exactly. The general consensus (here and on the 501st) seemed to be that the toys would be an unreliable source. (They kinda are if you compare the toy prototype boots to the real ones... foot shape seems all wrong.) So it's good to have that confirmed. I sense a million sewing machines crying out in terror at the though of all that pleating...

The pleating isn't going to be that bad. The easy part will be building the costume since I've already found the pattern that is an exact match!

Oh, it isn't difficult (especially compared to the Star Lord jacket and pants from Guardians of the Galaxy that I recently did), just horribly boring. The same. Exact. Seam. Overandoverandoverandover again.

This just arrived, I think this is as close as I'm going to be able to get so I'm calling it "close enough".

Might have to look for one, looks pretty close. Think one will be enough for the outer tunic?
The blankets are 90"x90" I roughly guestimated 3 blankets, one for the tunic, one for the hood, one for the cloak. Just to ensure I have plenty to work with. I'll have a more accurate assessment and could even post a pattern layout on the blankets themselves once I get a mockup going. I just haven't had the time yet.

I bought this stuff. Not exact.image.jpgimage.jpg Has good weight to it, should hang well. Not cheap at almost 11 per 1/2 meter.

I looked at that stuff and had it saved, I noticed someone caught onto it when it went from 44 available units to only 3. I was originally going to purchase it but as you said it was $11 for a 1/2 meter, and I didn't want to deal with dying wool. But that knit is much thicker than what I was able to find.

Edit: given the thickness, I think it'll look really nice.
