Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Wow Kyle, you have done some great detective work on this! I can't wait to hear more!

BTW: Hit me up when you get out here in July! Are you going to Disneyland? I have a season pass!!!

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

No I'm not going to Disneyland. My girlfriend has General Convention for that week, so I'm going to get to just check things out. Take in Cali. Oh and the whole possibly working on a Hollywood film thing.

I am however going to Disney World in November.

Man oh man, that is awesome news!

That's too bad there aren't any of the 24 inch ones out there. I'd be happy with a 14-inch one though, they're pretty awesome. Thanks for the news!

Ummm...You do realize that I now know the first and last names of the owners and where ALL 3 of the dolls are right?

Give me some credit man. I'm sure I may happen to or have already stumbled across a few more cell phone numbers.:love:angel

Great work!

I can only imagine what these people are thinking...

"You like this show?" :confused

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Oh man, this is awesome. Jingle All The Way is my absolute fav Christmas movie (captures what the holiday spirit is really about! :lol) and the toys still look cool today. I remember being quite disappointed by the Tiger Electronics version, it simply wasn't what was onscreen.

A screen-accurate TurboMan would be like a screen-accurate Buzz Lightyear or Chip Hazard to me... why do the toy companies always skimp on replicating toys from movies???

Fantastic detective work, Holmes would be proud. ;)

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Yup...amazing. I loved this movie as well. Good luck mate on all your dreams..

Thanks everyone for the vote(s) of confidence, kind words, and well wishing. It really does help me keep focus on this project and keep at it the way I do.

Great work!

I definitely have received that response from most of the people I've been in touch with. However, some of those people also told me Kirk was a royal douche and BOY were they wrong.

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

I was just back home in IL last week and went searching for old stuff in my parents attic. I saw an old TurboMan (Tiger) that was in mediocre shape. If you Kyle want it for whatever reason, I'll have someone send it to me or you, because I dont want it.

Thanks

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Ok so this isn't exactly Toy related but I figured I'd share what Turbo Man project I'm working on currently.

One of the things I'm making for myself and I'll probably offer if there is enough interest are the store displays. I started with this one -

Screen Cap:

ScreenCap.jpg

Then I redrew it by hand filling in the parts you can't see due to the Turbo Man logo.

TurboManSigncopy.jpg

and now I'm in the process of completely redrawing it in Adobe Illustrator so I have a nice vector Image I can have printed in any size I want...

Man, if you had used this for Good and not Evil, imagine what you could have accomplished.

Hey, a quick word of advice:
When you're "Inking," even on a computer, be careful not to trace. See the underside of your arm? You're just tracing shapes and stacking them together, hoping it will look like his arm. In reality, with this method, you're not drawing his arm any more. Hopefully it'll turn into his arm. You do that and your final image will suffer. Even if technically it is right on the original, it will lose any energy that translates to the viewer. You have to remember to draw THE ARM, not parts of the arm.

You're so passionate about this POS, I'd like to see you have the best collection of S from this POS.

It will improve everything you draw or paint to keep that foremost in your mind. So will actually using a brush tool or traditional brush that has weight to it. That guy was inked with a Brush, Quill Pen and Rapidiograph. I know I just spoke Ancient Greek to you, but look at the line quality on your original subject matter. It has movement, weight and is consistently inconsistent. Make Illustrator do the same thing, or pick up an analog inking device and scan it in. You can get vector art that way as well. To tell you the truth the best program to ink in is Flash MX. I kid you not. To me Illustrator feels like a Etch-a-Sketch compared to it.
Good God look at all the elements you have on that one layer. That's going to be a nightmare.
Gander at this, he feels the same way:

Just word from someone who's done more of his share of pushing real ink around.

Laffo.

The greatest post I've ever read.

Laffo, please post your thoughts about WATCHMEN. Been waiting to hear what you think. :)

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Man, if you had used this for Good and not Evil, imagine what you could have accomplished.

What exactly do you mean by that?

I mean you insult me and say everything involved with this is a POS. If you feel that way - don't check in and post on my threads. This thread has gone 6 pages and been nothing but positive and you wait until I post something that you can "probably" do better than me to unleash your "fury" on it? What's that all about? You say that you've pushed your share of "real" ink around - so does this make me, someone who's only had Illustrator for just over a month, fake? The only reason I own it is because the guy who does my decals uses it and it saves me money to do it my self and set it up for him.

I'm used to doing sketches by hand in a sketch pad. I don't have a clue about drawing on a PC and I never claimed to. I just happen to own a Wacom tablet and figured I'd play around with it. I've never scanned my drawing into a computer before and tried to refine its lines.

As far as the brush goes, I tried to use it but for some reason when I opened this file in Illustrator all my brushes, swatches, everything disappear. I'm an Uber Newb when it comes to this sort of thing. Next time just say, "Hey - why don't you try this or you could have done that totally different and a lot easier..." instead of "Everything you did is all wrong. This ***** is all a POS. I can do it better. This is Laffo. Out."

"You're so passionate about this POS, I'd like to see you have the best collection of S from this POS."

I'm pretty sure he means S***, otherwise he'd be saying "You're so passionate about this Point Of Sales, I'd like to see you have the best collection of Sales from this Point Of Sales." :D

As a guy who has done about 12 years of inking, (all with a brush), I can see why he's taking the time to trace it in Illustrator. If he wants an exact "line for line" replica of the POS, (Point of Sales ;) ), that's the best way, otherwise you're going to end up with your version of it.

What the hell Laffo? That is totally uncool of you to S*** all of a movie that the rest of us like.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't say anything.

If you meant it as a joke then it didn't translate well.

Anyway, good job Kyle. Did you get my voice mail? Sorry I didn't call you back last night.

Re: Jingle all the Way Toys **EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE CREATOR - PG.4**

Sorry to make everyone so upset. It was misconstrued. Calm down and re-read the post.

It was referring back to the many posts joking about the GUYS WHO WORKED ON IT BEING SURPRISED YOU WERE INTERESTED IN THE MOVIE. I'm sure you "Adults" don't need my approval of whether you're obsessed with the movie or not.

Hey GQ Customs - It was a joke about the mind blowing research and results you achieved and how funny it was TO ME AND THE GUYS THAT WORKED ON IT THAT IT'S THIS MOVIE. Look back at my post, where I gave you some advice that would result in a better final product, at no point did I say it wasn't your right to like the movie, or YOUR fascination with the movie was wrong, in fact I was trying to help you with your project, but I'll not make that mistake again. I actually posted a tutorial for you to help you as in your own words your are an "Uber Noob." Please forget that I offered that.

"What the hell Laffo? That is totally uncool of you to S*** all of a movie that the rest of us like."

JediFyfe - Are you joking me? You guys miss no opportunity to sit and ***** about movies you don't like, even before they hit the screen - and often for pages and pages (I.E. The New Star Trek). It's an opinion. That is still allowed to be voiced, and actually all I did was make a joke YOU didn't get, and offer advice so HE'D have a better project and call the movie lousy ONCE. All of which I believe is still allowed here. Hardly "****ting all over a movie that the rest of us like."

Beeb89 - Watch the tutorial. An Illustrator version of the original doesn't look like like the original so far. I was giving him an alternative, so he has a better end product, easier than the way he's going at it right now. Congrats on your 12 years of inking. After 12 years you should know there are 25 different ways to get to a final product. I have a hair more than 12 years under the belt so I might know what I'm talking about. But so what?

Everyone should calm down, I guess I never realized "Jingle All The Way" was sacred and was not allowed it's detractors. I missed the fact that it was an untouchable "Piece Of Cinema." That would be a POC.

For that I apologize, and I'll make sure to remember "Jingle All The Way" fans need no other opinions than their own.

Jingling All the Way Out of This Thread so no one else gets their Jingly Feelings hurt,
Laffo.
