Kuhn Global RED 3 by REL

I received my RED 3 today from Richard (REL)! It has been a long haul with two different birds being built. First was the replica of the 4-5 foot RED 3 made for ROTJ that never saw screen time. Second, and the one you see here, is an exact replica of the ANH, two foot screen used model that currently resides in the Lucasfilm Archives! It is THIS one we decided should be in the collection. And it is the first X-wing to be painted as such!

I must admit this bird came out better than I could have imagined!

Next up…

Richard’s (REL) 41 inch Noobian and Bob’s (Hand Solo) Red 5!

That looks really spectacular Kurt!
Great job REL.

I've got to ask though - why the Green Screen shots? I think it would be more appropriate to photograph it against blue screen as it would have been back in '77.

HA!!! Good Point! LOLOLOLOL... I will take some new photos (blue screen) when time permits. I had not thought of that. ;) :D

Thanks guys! I knew you guys would appreciate this bird as much as I do. Richard REALLY did an amazing job in it's re-creation. :D

I keep saying this after every one that appears, but Rich, best X wing ive seen yet, truly captures Red 3 so well.
Congrats Kurt, i know your very very proud :)

Wow. Looks great! Blue screen pics would be cool !!

The initial post is annoying though. Tired of highlighting text to see what pic I am clicking on. Can you fix that?

Yeah, just post some photos so we don't have to click on every link..
Very nice model you got there, Rel's work is top notch.

I was thinking the same thing about the links, for some reason he can't post them as inline images. Hopefully a moderator will help him out with it.

Wow! That has to be the best paint job on a X-wing that I have ever seen. Even the scratch marks are there. Simply amazing.

LOLOLOL.. another great point!

I LOVE IT micdavis! :D

Thanks.

But I did notice there is a green cast to the whole ship.

To grab the 1976 special effects look. It does need to be shot in the blue glow of the effect screen.

At the first meeting of the Association of Professional Model Makers we got a tour of ILM. They showed us the blue screen stage with the 5 foot Falcon sitting on it's pylon. Very cool.

That blue glow that pervaded the stage really stuck with me.
