Kryro's Ironman 3 Helmets WIP - Silver Centurion Added

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Thread

Mark 42 Progress:

This was technically my first pep build, as I learnt from a failed Mark 7 build.

Original pep, with coat of resin, few imperfections, and I wasn't happy with the ears so I made a new pair and left the back off, attaching the pictured part straight onto the helmet with the tabs

View attachment 198146

The cracks start to appear :p - Luckily this massive gap was sorted out by a single cut and bulldog clips

View attachment 198138View attachment 198139

I noticed some things that I didn't like on the original faceplate, such as the grooves above the eyes, and the air intakes at the top of the faceplate, so Faceplate mark 2 appeared.

Side to side comparison before and after resin coat

Faceplate 2.0 on the helmet before resin. I am much happier with this new attachment. I do know the top of the helmet (air intake) is slightly wrong, but it doesn't bother me too much

View attachment 198144

After coat of fiberglass the helmet and 2nd faceplate lie in wait for the rest to catch up.

Great work:)
Recently i started to built this helmet from gimpee file, but at the end of the pep stage i had problem to position the faceplate, this tended to distort.
After a comparison with some image of the helmet from film wallpaper or scenes, i noticed that gimpee helmet has the chin a little too short.

streetsoul - The button that looks like a .zip folder - you select that, and then just click on the 3D view which edges you want to combine.
Also a little preview of my semi-siplifed heartbreaker, im still not done with it. - I don't know how to turn these faces back to front though

Spardax - Yes I know what you mean, gimpee's file also misses the little indent at the top of the faceplate, but I can live with it. but don't give up, my best friend at that stage is a bulldog clip - there amazing.

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Shotgun Added!

@Ciano930 - It was just simplifying in Pepakura designer by joining edges that wernt already joined. Which is what im doing at the moment with the Heartbreaker. - I was just trying to make it a quicker build.

From what I remember about the godkiller, you could scale up the helmet and then pep the top half to use that as the mask over the mask, then maybe the extremis helmet scaled slightly smaller than the top mask

that's what the god killer is looking like in my mind, but ive only seen it a couple times

Well its a little more complex, imagine an iron man helmet with capt A's cowl fitted to the helmet, its more like that. but the similarities between godkiller and Gemini are in the jaw, they both have outward facing jaws where as the other armours are inward facing

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Shotgun Added!

Small update: I Have started pepping what I believe to be the hardest pep file ive encountered in a while, but I simplified it dramatically.

Of course that would be the heartbreaker helmet file. - As it stands at the moment I have the faceplate and the top of the helmet pepped, will be starting the headband and sides later.

I will also be starting the Igor helmet today once I pop out to get some more card

Mark 17 Progress:

No Exploded view this time folks sorry, there was too many parts in this pep. - This is still a WIP atm as I only started this morning but I have this already.

After joining the top together - looks sick
20130622_130118.jpg20130622_130127.jpg

More updates soon

About half done, few pieces missing - and the faceplate is slightly crooked, but that will be fixed when the other side of the helmet is attached. The build will go slower now as I am very bust with college this week.

Thought id try it on - seems about right
This pep file is so hard, but I will persevere :D

UPDATE 23/06

Finished the top of the helmet, I decided to scrap the ears as the just wernt working for me, so im going to do an ear redux
20130623_231303.jpg20130623_231313.jpg20130623_231324.jpg20130623_231338.jpg
Sorry for the masking tape - its just to cure my paranoia of the glue just not working after I go to sleep

Update 02/07

Finished pepping the back section of the helmet, and started on the chin section - ALMOST DONE!!! :D

Looking so good so far - thank you Parachristo for this wonderful file
20130702_150951.jpg20130702_150959.jpg

The first part of the chin - this section was definitely one of (if not) the hardest pieces of the file. but I know the center of the chin will be the hardest, so ill leave that till last, shall try and do the other side of this tonight.
20130702_205320.jpg

UPDATE 2.0

DID SOMEONE SAY... Almost done!!
20130703_000245.jpg
Not by the hairs on my chinny chin chin

Finally it starts to resemble the Heartbreaker - All that needs to be done is the new ear sections, the middle piece of the chin and the 2 bottom rims of the chin section, then I can quickly resin it, as im am most scared of this pep coming out of place.
20130703_002432.jpg20130703_002459.jpg20130703_002750.jpg

98% Completed
- just need to make the new ears, and then I am DONE with the pep!!!

Here it is, mostly de-taped and oh my it looks sexy if I do say so myself

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Heartbreaker/Igor WIP added!

That's looking awesome so far! Can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished.
You're inspiring me to give the Heartbreaker a go!

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Heartbreaker/Igor WIP added!

Thanks streetsoul and Madosheet

if parachristo ever gets back to me with the PW for the file I will send you my much simplified version
so far the heartbreaker has been alright, ive had to cut a few pieces on the headband because for some reason it didn't fit, but I can fi that at the bondo stage, or ill just put some paper over it lol

Updated the heartbreaker post with a few more updates

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Heartbreaker WIP added!

Hey, I like your helmets! Can you give me a link where can I find the Mark 37 helmet?

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Heartbreaker WIP added!

Mdonci - unfortunately I don't think the guy who made it wanted to distribute it, or have people mass message him, so I wont be revealing his name.

I can say he did just unfold the low poly game model, of which balmung has uploaded a load. im sure there brilliant

Mark 38 Progress:

could you send me the file mark 37 hammerhead by personal message please is the only thing I need to complete my collection please :)

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmets WIP - IGOR added!

Unfortunately the file is not mine to give out, nor does the owner want to be swamped with email requests. sorry man, it is possible to point you in the direction of Balmung's 3D model from the game, which is what my helmet came from.

Heartbreaker pep 98% Completed!!!!! (Updated post)

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmets WIP - Heartbreaker 98% done

Thank you very much, it now has a coat of fiberglass on the inside - I am still wondering how to do the ears, I may just cover them with a ectagle of card and fiberglass and then do the detail with body filler. it is the 2nd on my priority list for body filler after centurion.
But thank you, keep checking :D

Update very soon!

Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmets WIP - Heartbreaker 98% done

Mark 33 Progress

Well ive had this file printed out ever since Balmung released it, but was put on hold due to heartbreaker.
Anyway this build is my scariest as I am resin-ing and fiberglassing the 3 pieces seperatly, HOPEFULLY the supports will keep it all cool.

And yes I have continued to use colours, as im bored of white card

The first part, the Chin
20130705_143704.jpg20130706_195613.jpg

The Whole Helmet - slightly out on the back - easily fixed with body filler
20130706_231603.jpg20130706_231623.jpg20130706_231701.jpg

The faceplate is now complete, looks beautiful
20130707_170317.jpg20130707_170323.jpg

Checking the pieces are in line, makes me love this helmet SO much,
20130707_170347.jpg20130707_170501.jpg20130707_170506.jpg

Sexy Centurion
20130707_170636.jpg

Its strange how making all these helmets changes my opinion on which one is my favourite.
Anyway, as of now, the centurion has resin coat and the faceplate and chin have fiberglass in them. Hopefully when I fiberglass the helmet part it will still all fit perfectly *crosses fingers*
