Re: Kryro's Ironman Helmet Display - Thread
Great work
Recently i started to built this helmet from gimpee file, but at the end of the pep stage i had problem to position the faceplate, this tended to distort.
After a comparison with some image of the helmet from film wallpaper or scenes, i noticed that gimpee helmet has the chin a little too short.
Mark 42 Progress:
This was technically my first pep build, as I learnt from a failed Mark 7 build.

Original pep, with coat of resin, few imperfections, and I wasn't happy with the ears so I made a new pair and left the back off, attaching the pictured part straight onto the helmet with the tabs

The cracks start to appear- Luckily this massive gap was sorted out by a single cut and bulldog clips

I noticed some things that I didn't like on the original faceplate, such as the grooves above the eyes, and the air intakes at the top of the faceplate, so Faceplate mark 2 appeared.

Side to side comparison before and after resin coat

Faceplate 2.0 on the helmet before resin. I am much happier with this new attachment. I do know the top of the helmet (air intake) is slightly wrong, but it doesn't bother me too much

After coat of fiberglass the helmet and 2nd faceplate lie in wait for the rest to catch up.
