Klingon Disruptor from Diamond Select Toys in 2011

If it helps, remember that these are injection-molded plastic toys that cost a fraction of what you would have paid for a resin garage KIT a few years ago. :D

DST Star Trek Electronic Klingon Disruptor

I wonder if you keep pressing the button that the sound starts all over again. I know it comes with a rapid fire mode, but it sounds totally lazy. I'm a quick trigger fan!

Also note how the battery compartment is accessed. That block like piece on top of the disruptor seems to slide off a bit too easily. Hopefully it snaps in tight. But there's huge potential here. DST could make an add on part to it that has the shoulder stock and all you would have to do is slide it on. Hmm.

Don't worry about it, they might! Then again, as long as there are different color schemes.....we'll have these babies on the market for the next ten years!

They look pretty good.

I wasn't aware Rura Penthe had lakeside cabins. Kind of makes me wonder about those Klingon's.

What's the lever/knob thing sticking out of the top section of the Trek III version (you can see it much better in the video)? I've never seen it on any replica before.

never cared for the beak nose, so it's cool to see the Trek 3 version. Looks great!

Maybe the parts on the Trek 3 top are where the stock attaches?

Emitter on the ST3 gun is upside down. :eek
They also used the Richard Coyle shortcut paintjob on the handle. :unsure

I was looking through the images posted of the box back showing both sides.

I noticed there are no screw holes. Seems like I remember them doing something similar in the past (maybe when the first TOS phaser came out) and when the actual product was released, they had the screw holes. I noticed in the video above, and in this video: Star Trek Klingon Disruptor Role Play Demonstration (Diamond Select Toys) - YouTube they only show the left hand side of the disruptor.

The box photos are probably a pre production sample. Actual appearance is subject to change without notice.

Well that's sort of my point. I simply think people should proceed with caution and not set themselves up for disappointment. Not that if it does have screw holes it will be bad, I just do not think it is right to mislead buyers knowing that such images are going to entice pre-sales.

Got my STIII disruptors today. This thing is pretty cool and very large. Here are a bunch of pictures of the DST STIII Klingon Disruptor. They really did do a good job with this thing. The thing I like the least is the sound effects. They just dont seem like good disruptor fire sounds to me and no rapid (press to) fire would **** off any Klingon. I still dont get what the "nub" is on the cowl either. The weirdest thing for me is just that its so light. Its a big gun, but its just plastic so there is really no heft to it at all. The gun looks beautiful. The paint color is a little different than my other Klingon gear, but the detailing and weathering is wonderful. I know alot of people get upset about the screw holes, but its a toy, and I think they did as good a job covering them up as you could expect. If people modify these like they did with the TMP and WOK phasers (add some weights, fill the holes and give it a fresh coat of paint) these things could go on the display shelf of the pickiest collectors. The photos below mostly compare the DST with my Coyle. There are also close up shots for you nitpickers. The last two shots are trying to show you that the weathering is completely different from model to model (at least on the two that I got).

I got my STIII today also. It looks like there may be just a hint of barrel droop. If you look carefully you can see that the silver tubes are not quite parallel with the top of where they attach to the main body. They point down just a little bit. Am I crazy or do you guys see it on yours also? I'm still very happy with it though.

Wow I didn't know these were on sale yet, and I had no idea there was a Commander Kruge Version available!!
Thanks for posting pictures. Fingers crossed these are in-stock at Forbidden Planet when I go to town today.
Might get 2 and modify one.

Got mine today too, I was considerably less impressed. In person it's just hollow and plasticky. The sound is indeed crappy. Which is strange since their recent 1701-B toy has great sound.

At LEAST the sound fires when you PRESS the trigger, not when you let up on it (I'm looking at you, WOK phaser... :confused )

Also the "continuous fire" setting is disappointing because it's just REPEAT fire of the single-shot sound. And the single shot sound is clipped at the end, on single fire mode...

An amazing TEN screws in the side of this disruptor!

The thing that bugs me the most I think is the fact that the curved tubes in front, are NOT TUBES! They're just half tubes, the outer surface. How am I supposed to disintegrate the traitors of Kling with only half tubes. :confused

I dunno, we'll see who cuts one up and goes to town with the mods. MAYBE it can be gussied up...
