King Jawa "Han in Carbonite" Helpful hints Tutorial thread

KingJawa, your HIC was the centerpiece in our Star Wars family party this year and it was a hit!

It's still a work in progress, I still need to build a proper box for it and add more layers of glue and decide how far down the rabbit hole I want to go with the greeblies on the sides.

Thanks again for the great tutorial, this was a huge intimidating project in my mind but it's turning out great.

Step # 5 Attaching your HIC to mounting surface

Your HIC can be mounted using various materials, I like to use drywall screws. Remember this prop is lightweight so you don't need a ton of screws, just enough to keep him in place. All screw heads should be filled with bondo and sanded flush. The cut seams should also be filled with bondo, and yet again sanded flush.

When attaching HIC to the board with drywall screws did you drill from the back or front? (meaning does the screw start in the foam cast Han or up from the board?)

Thanks,
Chris

Well I got mine done minus some more weathering. It's mounted on a door to my bedroom which is in an alcove.

I'm almost ready to hang my finished HIC. A giant thank you to Kingjawa for the amazing cast and all the helpful hints along the way. I used many resources when building this thing and these tips were invaluable.

King do you have recommendations for who can provide a HIC molds . I am new to this forum and looking to start my own HIC but need the mold .

i am currently building my HIC and im stuck on the lights for my control panel. does anyone know where to purchase a light kit.

I used the one from Fettronics.com and it worked great. Good value too if you want the 2nd light panel as well as it plugs right in and is very cost effective.
