I've been looking for replicas of the Kill Bill sword and I was wondering what you guys think of this one in terms of screen accuracy

I have one of those. Not sure if better ones are available now, but four years ago it was the most accurate one I could find.

The website lists it for 220 euro. How much did you pay for it? Do you remember?

Do you have any picture of yours?

I can't remember much of what I did that far back!

I don't have any decent pictures, just some of it sheathed on the stand. It looks identical to the one pictured above. Same manufacturer.

Does anyone has a list of most accurate brands? I've done some searches on the forum but there seems to be a bit too many different opinions. Basically most of the members who bought a sword from anywhere have said at some point that the one they bought is the best replica available.

Does any brand have the embossed lion properly placed off-center for example?

Also, I wouldn't like to spend 200 euro and then find out that it's the same quality of a $99 sword

Well, does 220 euro sounds like a likely price you could have spent? Surely you would remember if it costed something towards £50 or £200.

It definitely wasn't £50 and it wasn't the cheapest available at the time. But it was the best available at the time.

Isn't there a thread somewhere about someone wanting to do a 100% accurate version?

hi,

I went through a period of researching the Bride's sword, working on my own replica. If you do a search in this forum for " kill bill sword ", I've posted most of my notes, and a comparison of the correctness of every replica I could find.

I finally went with a Masahiro (the model you posted), but I did a lot of work to it to make it look more like the movie prop: new rayskin, new leather re-wrap, refinished the fittings and cleaned them up, added a couple of holes to the tsuba, new menuki, etc.

The masahiro's not bad for a base, but it'll need a lot of work to make it look nice.

Thanks,
jason

I see you have collected quite a lot of info. It's a shame there is not really any sword on the market that gets very close to be screen accurate. I also read the thread of that guy whose making one 100% but unfortunately it will be on the £1000 mark and I don't really care of cutting anything with it or having it made in a traditional way, I just want an accurate wallhanger that looks good when unsheated.

Recently from website "The Dragons Edge" I've noticed a new "improved" Kill Bill sword replica that they recently started offering for $138. Unfortunately it still has the wrongly placed Hattori symbol on the blade. However they did add the golden ring on the sheat

I give you the specifics of it
Kill Bill Replica by Musashi - Full Tang BRIDE Handmade Sword
This is the Hattori Hanzo sword you have been waiting for! Fully functional and an accurate replica of the sword used in Kill Bill. This sword comes complete with the Lion Emblem engraved on one side of the carbon steel blade and 3 leaf guard (Tsuba) design. A sycamore leaf emblem is engraved on the wooden scabbard (Saya) and hand painted gold. All metal fittings and tons of detail from end to end.

Yes, it's hard to understand why no one can get this right (or near right).

Btw, the dragon's edge sword looks like the musashi replica - fittings are way off, tsuba is wrong, many other things incorrect. Not much improved, IMHO:)

Thanks,
jason

Yeah I share your feelings, I don't see a lot of improvements. I wonder if they would accept suggestions on how to improve it.

Hey Jonesy,

If you wanted, I suppose we could work out a deal to 're-work' a Masahiro for you - it would run into a bit of money for parts and time, though.

Thanks,
jason

I'll keep up the hope that one day we may get something fairly accurate from one of these sellers for the 100-150 dollars mark. The price of postage to Europe is also quite crazy.
