Kick-Ass 2 (Post-release)

So Jim Carrey has decided to not promote the film. Big flipping deal.

It's not like he's going out and demanding that his scenes be cut or actively demeaning the film. He's just not gonna promote it.

You gotta admire a man who is willing to stand up for what he believes in while not tearing down everything around him to do so.

So what you are saying is that movies like The Dark Knight franchise is suitable for young children? You think The Amazing Spiderman is suitable for my 4yo?

I see you're hard on the Kickass movies, what about Super? thats just as if not more violent than the Kickass films. yet from the cover looks just like Kickass film. You didnt mention anything about those films.

When you look at the core of all Superhero movies. Non of them are suitable for children. Not one of them rates under a PG-13. Meaning Parental guidance is recommended under the age of 13. That means it's up to the Parent to decide what his or her child watches. Would I let my Ten yearold go and see The Dark Knight Rises? no

Amazing Spiderman? yes

Kickass? Hell no.

Does the Kickass franchise promote toys for children? No

Did The Dark Knight Rises film promote toys for children? Yes

Is the Dark Knight Rises a film for Children? No, Nothing of the content is suitable for children, Why the film was toned down to PG-13 is beyond me. Wait it isnt beyond me, it makes perfect sense. Thats how you make money in the industry, make adult content that children can also see (example please see World War Z)

So to jump up and down about the Kickass series just makes ZERO sense, It's a honest film, doesnt try and hide what it is and clearly states it is infact an R18 rated movie. They are not trying to fool anyone like alot of other Superhero films as of late.

So would I let me kid watch Kickass? No, but that also goes for Batman, Spiderman, Captian america and yes even Ironman. All these movies are too violent for kids. Thats why the cartoons were made.

Maybe you should stick to cartoons

And perhaps you need to stop assuming little friend.

Superhero movies attract children - FACT

I was more addressing Millar's comparison of his film to others that won't even share the same shelf space.

Absolutely.

I would hope people know the difference between a person and the fictional characters they play and I'd understand if he came out on an interview saying violence is out of control and that he doesn't support it taking that stance. These movies are fake characters and it's also parents' responsibility to educate their kids on what is real and acceptable, and what's fake and not okay in real life.

No, I really don't. He waited until the check cleared before he decided to announce his change of heart and despite all his rhetoric hasn't made one mention about donating the money he made or will be making from the movie towards any causes. He can't in good conscious support the level of violence in the film but he sure has no qualms about being paid for it.

I'm with Ower. He got paid to portray the character and make the film, and now he's bowing out of the necessary legwork actors do to promote their work, citing compunctions of conscience? Sounds like he just doesn't want to follow up now that he's cashed out.

Good of him to find a way to generate buzz about the film without having to board a plane, I guess.

I just threw out every and any Carrey films in the collection. The man is a ******-bag and I'll never watch another film of his. He should be edited out of this film. I will not miss him.

That might be a bit extreme to toss out what he has already done, but I sure as hell won't give him any money on new projects after this.

They are not too violent for teenagers big difference.

And I saw some little kids going into to see World War Z... Everyone in the theater was like, "WTF, what are they thinking bringing those kids to see this?"

Maybe Jim didn't want to cause waves because he IS donating his money...:rolleyes

As a person first and as an actor second he put a real bitter taste in my mouth. He had to go... I don't feel bad.

:lol has anybody started a we hate Jim Carrey thread yet? Some people still want to see the film and don't need a subscription notice every time somebody throws out a movie. ;) This thread is about Kick-ass 2

I'm a HUGE gun advocate and CWP holder. I'm gonna see this movie anyway though simply because I can separate a character from the the real person. If the actor does the job and makes me forget their real life bull**** then they did their job. I'm going for an interesting and entertaining story. No matter how much of a hypocrite he is.

He's just doing it it get his name in the papers since nobody's found him funny in 20 years and i guarantee i won't go near anything he's in from now on. i still need to find the first one, just hard to see Nick Cage in anything that isn't b-movie quality.

He was AWESOME in the first one. He's a parody and a damn good one. I actually get a bit emotional watching some of his scenes. Pretty much the only movie I really love him in.

Jim Carrey is a piece of **** liberal hack. He should be edited from the film. **** him and his so called agendas.

I can do the same, The guy is free to believe and talk about whatever he wants but when he gets on his soap box, I'm going to weigh in with my thoughts. I just find his timing a bit suspect. I wonder if this is his way of CYA since he's made such a big deal about guns and violence that he gets the promotion of the movie out and still "stick to his guns" pun intended. Granted I don't know how the Hollywood machine works but he's had 6 months since the event to handle this privately or try to work a compromise with the filmmakers.

I think you have made you view of Jim's politics well known, I doubt the film would be improved by "hacking" up the story just to edit out one of the main characters. If you avoid all movies with liberal actors you'll find yourself with a VERY short watch list. ;)
