Kick-Ass 2 (Post-release)

@Caymen Shen: Yeah, I'm not a fan of him either, cause he played the same lame dude over and over again. Here I was very surprised!

I definitely enjoyed the first one when I saw it. Can't wait to see what the second one is like. :)

There might be some language in his contract in which he has to promote the film. With that said, did he not read the script? Or even research the source material to see how violent it is? Or see how violent it is during filming? Or even watch the first film? You know, the one where there's an 11 year old girl killing people all sorts of ways with all sorts of different weaponry.

If he's against promoting the film, maybe he should donate the salary he received as well as any and all bonuses he may receive from the film's gross to some sort of fund to those directly affected by the Sandy Hook incident. I find it unlikely that he will.

Totally agree.

What an idiot. The hypocrisy in Hollywood is astonishing. Let's blame an inanimate object for other people's bad decisions. Way to go Jim.

Yeah, Jim Carry's comments almost made me not want to see the movie.... almost. I won't punish the rest of the cast & crew for something one idiot said.

Jim Carrey pulling support for Kick-Ass 2

Jim Carrey gives the boot to 'Kick-Ass 2' - latimes.com

Yes. Apparently Jim Carrey I pulling support for Kick-Ass 2 for it being "too violent". But, for a good reason.
The “Bruce Almighty” star has taken to Twitter to distance himself from Aug. 16’s sequel because Carrey said that he “cannot support that level of violence” in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, in which 20 children and six educators were slain last December.

"I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart,” Carrey said of “Kick-Ass 2” says Jim in a tweet.

If he can't support it, he should donate his entire salary from it to some survivor's fund. If not, he's a ******.

And sickening. Sandy Hook was 6 months ago. Carrey is just revealing his discomfort with the project now! when the film is going to open soon. Even if he shot it before, he should have said something immediately. Let's see if he's uncomfortable enough to give back the millions they paid him. A-hole deluxe.

What a cry baby - just get over it dude, don't beg Carrey to reconsider. If this truly is one of his greatest performances ever - people will see the film regardless. I wasn't even going to respond to this thread but Millar writing, comparing his movie's violence to the likes of "Tarantino and Peckenpah, Scorcese and Eastwood, John Boorman, Oliver Stone and Chan-Wook Park,"and or "Rocky, John Wayne and the Death Star exploding -- these other properties lack the one thing that sets his apart from the rest -- Superheroes. My son has never asked me to take him to a movie about boxing - or hit men - or Vietnam, but you can bet he loves his Superhero movies - as do most kids. The minute you put these suits on people and they cut people in two with a sword or an 11yr old girl opens fire on some thugs then is pummeled by a fifty-something year old man - my friend, you've gone from nerf to hardball. Don't look around innocently and say "but... we just made a simple little movie." Last I checked The Searchers lacked a character called "The Motherf-----". Own up to whats in your bottle - Jim didn't promote a lot of his film yet they still did well - maybe, just maybe.. you're worried because what you have there isn't all that great. I know if I had Rocky and Burt Young refused to promote it - I would care less. By your groveling one can tell you NEED Jim to sell tickets - on the Tonight Show, Conan, where ever - you have the promise of Jim in the can - that should be enough.

So what you are saying is that movies like The Dark Knight franchise is suitable for young children? You think The Amazing Spiderman is suitable for my 4yo?

I see you're hard on the Kickass movies, what about Super? thats just as if not more violent than the Kickass films. yet from the cover looks just like Kickass film. You didnt mention anything about those films.

When you look at the core of all Superhero movies. Non of them are suitable for children. Not one of them rates under a PG-13. Meaning Parental guidance is recommended under the age of 13. That means it's up to the Parent to decide what his or her child watches. Would I let my Ten yearold go and see The Dark Knight Rises? no

Amazing Spiderman? yes

Kickass? Hell no.

Does the Kickass franchise promote toys for children? No

Did The Dark Knight Rises film promote toys for children? Yes

Is the Dark Knight Rises a film for Children? No, Nothing of the content is suitable for children, Why the film was toned down to PG-13 is beyond me. Wait it isnt beyond me, it makes perfect sense. Thats how you make money in the industry, make adult content that children can also see (example please see World War Z)

So to jump up and down about the Kickass series just makes ZERO sense, It's a honest film, doesnt try and hide what it is and clearly states it is infact an R18 rated movie. They are not trying to fool anyone like alot of other Superhero films as of late.

So would I let me kid watch Kickass? No, but that also goes for Batman, Spiderman, Captian america and yes even Ironman. All these movies are too violent for kids. Thats why the cartoons were made.

Maybe you should stick to cartoons
