Well yeah I'm just happy he's got more lights on his chest box again.I do love the Vader we're getting in the new series though, regardless of what he's wearing

about that comment heres why he looks like that, theres too little chain on the cape so theres not much of a gap on the necks (which reminds me of a Kenner toy I have) and added to the fact the cape is 3/4 circle instead of 1/2 means that its bound to look awkward in scenes and thanks to 'VitalNonsense' for his HD close up images I can give you an example of what I'm trying to say (not the best but you get the idea)
Here you can see how much excess cape material there is bunching up.

His belt hanger is a Master Replicas ANH version complete with only 6 grips instead of 7.Does anybody have any better view of his saber? I know he it has black side bars and no wires but I'm tryna figure out are there different thmbscrews? is the bubble card different? etc.
Thank you.The helmet's dome is ESB style, while the face is R1 style (meaning smooth brow not pointy, although the mask retains the smaller ANH/R1 chin vent). Marketing and merchandise have indicated that the lenses are dark red, but the previous episode's lighting was too dark for that to be seen if true.
Other notes:
-Inner robes worn under the armor like ESB. In the episode it looked like it was smooth without pleats, but BTS shot looks like it does have the pleats, so I dunno.
-Chest armor with potentially a unique shape, flatter above the box in the front (similar to changes made to RotS Vader's armor, though obviously much closer to OT).
-Chest box without straps, like how the RotS version was attached (although the box itself is still ANH/R1 style) and now with lights too.
-Entirely new cod piece, fairly unique in the realm of vader dick armor. Very wrinkly.
-ANH-style lightsaber.
So would it be a gutted 2007 Master Replicas FX saber? because that one has six grips (correct if I'm wrong but I think its also the same for the black series one) also I was wondering if they used a new clamp or just repainted the Master Replica sidebars black. His belt hanger is a Master Replicas ANH version complete with only 6 grips instead of 7.
And that is why I like the ROTS in this angle of lighting the eyes are almost featureless yet the teeth show and that to me looks terrifying.
Maybe they thought cuz the ROTS had lights on the chest box ,no windows peck, no robes over armor, I wouldn't say the mask looked too symetrical, super cleaned up yes but symmetrical no as for the wrinkly cod IDK but I prefer this cod over the RO version. The costume looks awesome even with the odd details. My questions are, why is the robe under the armor? Why is the widows peak gone? Why are there lights on the chest box when they weren't in ANH? Why is the cod piece so wrinkled? But over all its very nice. Not sure about the faceplate, it looks to symmetrical. The wonky sculpt of the OG made it more menacing.
Also add that to the fact its an in-universe antique as well means it'll harder to find the same pieces. In in-universe logic this is just a life-support equipment with intimidation purpose in its design. Since it's being used frequently, and mostly in battles and harsh environment, I wouldn't be surprised if it changed on a monthly basis a bit. That's why I don't have a slight problem with his look in either film.
Btw. I have 501st approved ESB Vader which I used for trooping extensively from 2015 to 2020. When I compare it to the first time I wore it, and now, it's very much different (and I hadn't even been in a battle, yet...)
As I said before its to do with the bunched up cape and the cape being tight round the neck. And there's something off with him sitting in the throne. I don't if the lighting or the lens. But none of it looks real. It looks like a toy or something. Not a guy in a suit.
The whole scene looked very strange. Some have their issues with the costume itself but I thought the scene looked like obvious greenscreen work, it's got little to do with the costume as far as I'm concered (but the posing could have been better too, he looks like an adult in a kid's seat with his knees up so high, but I digress). It's a lighting/color thing that makes the whole scene look videogamey. Rogue One depicted these environments much more realistically. And there's something off with him sitting in the throne. I prefer your images because the lighting from the previous ones looked like he was on a star destroyer with a picture of mustafar in the background instead of actually being there. The whole scene looked very strange. The only visible lighting in the scene are all the windows open to the blaring red sky with a light above the center of the room, and yet the interior is completely cool blue as if the windows don't even exist (except for a couple meager reflections). It doesn't make sense to me as a real environment. Many of the surfaces should be bouncing red but instead they're all strongly blue. And the saturation is just off the charts.
Like let's just ignore Vader for a second and focus on the environment. I think all that red pouring in should probably be knocking back the blue considerably. The top is the environment as released and the bottom is closer to what I would expect to see with that exterior:

This extends to Vader himself, whose shiny black armor shows almost no signs whatsoever of being surrounded by blaring red windows. The window views also don't actually match the Mustafar exterior shot, where the sky featured blues and purples in the clouds. Here's my take again:

However an important question remains: Is realistic actually better? My images are certainly less striking than the originals. It could have been an intentional stylistic choice on their part to forgo nuanced lighting in favor of very bold colors. But in that case, they really should have planned better so that Vader better reflected the lighting environment he was to be in.
One thing is for sure: Compared to Rogue One, things are certainly looking...thrifty. The helmet lowering during suit-up looked like it was literally a 2D asset being animated on a flat plane. The sequence I'd been hoping to see since the tease on Rogue One ended up looking like a flash animation. Shocking to me that they take out all the stops and blow the bank for Mando, but for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader it's time to save money. I don't get it.
