Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down

Star Wars Celebration in Japan just released their panel schedule for the event:

That link shows the list of projects they're going to promote. Notice there is no sign whatsoever of any Kathleen Kennedy project? Nothing from any of the directors that were fake "announced" in recent months/years?
  • No Rey movie
  • No Rian Johnson trilogy
  • No Kevin Feige movie
  • No Taika Waititi movie
  • No Shawn Levy movie
  • No Dave Lindelof movie
  • No Simon Kinberg trilogy
  • No Lando Calrissian movie
  • No James Mangold movie
  • No Sequel Trilogy sequels

That's a very underwhelming line up.

Oh and.....
"Lucasfilm Animation’s 20th Anniversary"

So just to clarify, we "celebrated" THE Clone Wars on the 20th Anniversary of the Clone Wars Multimedia Project in 2023. Now they'll celebrating THE Clone Wars again in 2025. And or course they'll do it again in 2028.

I feel like Star Wars is just quickly becoming Dave's universe. With the Episodes I-VI there to back up his shows and characters.

You’re on to something there uncle bill!

There was... So. Much. Potential.... to do something like that, and Disney would’ve made money hand over fist. Different lands representing different worlds in the Star Wars universe. Separate restaurants, attractions, rides, coasters, shows.

You could’ve done a “Rise of the Resistance” attraction, but within the Death Star, and you were trying to escape while the rebels were making their trench run.

Or a boat ride through the swamps of Dagobah, where you encounter Yoda training Luke.

Or a ride-simulator attack on AT-ATs, attacking Echo Base.

If anyone has ridden Avatar Flight of Passage that ride mechanism would make a great Endor speeder bike chase ride.

...but that's what Star Wars has become.
That's why it fails, because what they want to make and what the fans expect of it are two fundamentally different things. You can't just throw a label on it and expect it to succeed. They are looking for a "modern audience" that simply doesn't exist. All franchises die when the people interested in seeing it stop existing. Disney has driven this one into the ground. Star Wars didn't pass away, it was murdered in its sleep.

I'm just glad to see it. It's long overdue. Luke, Han, Leia, Lando . . . They all should have been regular fixtures at GE this whole time.

Yeah, it's nostalgia bait. But that is Disney's bread-n-butter. Half the costumed characters walking around those parks are older than Star Wars.

I heard a headless chicken was in charge but I digress lol.

Disney is doing this with a Porg! :D

Half? probably 75%

Just think…someday you will all be able to tell your grandchildren where you were when Kathleen Kennedy stepped-down from Lucasfilm.

It will be one of those demarcation points in history, where there is life before and life after she stepped-down from Lucasfilm…they will not be the same…similar to the Moon Landing.

Why, I fully expect my life to be significantly different on that day, and I don’t, for one minute, think it’s one of the most colossal examples of a waste of time to worry about her tenure at Lucasfilm…absolutely not.

The Star Wars Man says it’s VERY important, after all:

I have cleared my calendar and eagerly await the next update.
