Kathleen Kennedy is stepping down

There's a rumor going around out there that Disney has been trying to quietly sell off Star Wars for the past 7 months and can't find anyone willing to buy it. No idea if it's true, but I wouldn't be surprised. Nobody wants to touch Star Wars anymore. It's a dead property.
I mean, if a buyer had to take Kennedy as part of the deal then I can see why they wouldn't be interested!

Iger may also be thinking about dodging the blame. If it's dawned on him that SW is in for years of disappointing returns, he may want to put that hot potato under somebody else's roof so the stockholders don't point too many fingers at him about it. SW would still be his responsibility at the bottom line but at least he wouldn't have as much proximity to the trainwreck.

BINGO! It is well known that Iger has big Presidential aspirations...I think he needs to look smarter than this.

I doubt his main concern is really dodging blame though. His primary one is probably just making the profits go up. If Disney cannot handle SW then at least he can sell the opportunity to let somebody else mess it up.

See above...I think dodging blame is a huge part of his plan.

I keep forgetting about that factor. It's so stupid that it's hard for me to picture it actually happening.

I won't start detailing my reasons on here because it's politics. But man, I see a bunch of strikes against him.

Disney announced today that they are converting Smuggler's Run at Disneyland and Disney World to Favreau-verse theme:

This is the first of many changes to Galaxy's Edge which will be slowly phasing out elements from the Sequel Trilogy (Kathleen's baby).

Also, an insider mentioned noticing droid BD-1 in the concept art. This adds fire to the (unsubstantiated) rumor that Favreau is going to be introducing Cal Kestis (from the Jedi: Fallen Order game) to live action!

I can see them doing this for the future, keep changing the experience

I think it’s a great business idea

Especially since no one is really going for the ST theming.

The whole concept of disney world was to change things over time to keep it fresh and current. That seemed to have gotten lost for a good while but only in the last 5-10 years been reasserting itself.

I wonder why they just don’t pivot back to their original plan of creating an OT setting like Mos Eisley?

Such a missed opportunity.

In all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me if the people making those decisions have no clue about the dish.

Yeah I know. They could re-theme the park for the OT and they might still leave the X-wing as the ST model too. I'm just making a point.

I guess I just don't care that much about Disney and who is at the helm. Why this topic(and so many others) has to be beaten to death is one of life's great mysteries.

And they've already announced that Mandalorian era Jedi Luke Skywalker (~3 years post ROTJ) will be showing up in Galaxy's edge as a meet-n-greet character.

...which is a good idea, to "push" that narrative from 30 years post ROTJ with the ST, to the immediate post ROTJ time frame where you can still have some PT characters and also the Mandalorian side of things.

...the problem is, the Rise of the Resistance attraction. It is FIRMLY planted in the ST timeline with Kylo, Hux, Rey, BB8, Poe, Finn, etc.

If SW was one of Disney's own franchises then it would have been an OT-themed park from the start.
There was... So. Much. Potential.... to do something like that, and Disney would’ve made money hand over fist. Different lands representing different worlds in the Star Wars universe. Separate restaurants, attractions, rides, coasters, shows.

You could’ve done a “Rise of the Resistance” attraction, but within the Death Star, and you were trying to escape while the rebels were making their trench run.

Or a boat ride through the swamps of Dagobah, where you encounter Yoda training Luke.

Or a ride-simulator attack on AT-ATs, attacking Echo Base.
