For those of you who are not familiar with the series, KARAS is a six part show about an armoured, katana wielding protagonist that fights demons. Suffice to say the incredibly well done fight sequences in the show have assuredly prompted me to produce my own outfit for an upcoming convention, and I hope you will enjoy my progress on the build.
For reference sake this is the final aesthetic I hope to achieve, as you can see there will be a lot components to the outfit and many potential challenges ahead of me but I’ll do my best and will be relying on you guys in the forum should I hit any major roadblocks.
To start off with, I decided to work on the helmet as this is the first thing people will be looking at, so scaling the helmet and getting the look right is quintessential.
Using cardboard and a whole heap of trial and error I’ve progressively built up the major features and details of the helmet.
I find having a mannequin head is very useful in this regard as I am able to step back and see how the helmet looks from a far. I should also note that the triangluar gap at the nose is where I've plan to leave enough of a clearance to install a small fan to help with breathing later on.
Symmetry is your friend is what I'm taking from working on this step, that and patience.
All in all I am very pleased on how its turned out so far, next stage I guess is to take it to be resined and fiberglassed so do stay tuned for that.
