My Son's Kai ZX Costume

After reading the helpful advice from many here, I finally finished my son's Kai ZX costume! Now he wants to be Optimus Prime ... The joys of fatherhood!

So I totally cheated and bought a Lloyd zx hoodie online for under $30. He need a new hoodie this fall anyway as he outgrew his last one. I plan to make some embellishments like the shoulder armor and add a belt. I'll post pictures

CostumeDad2012 we were thinking about a floral ring as well, we were going to use that idea when we did Jesse last year (for her pull string).

We have a costume party tonight (5 days before Halloween) so it's time to cram the last minute things, not spend any more $ and just git er done, son.

ahhhh!!!! i'm so far behind too!!! working on the shoulder armor and headpiece... will post final tomorrow... he has a party on sunday... so i HAVE too finish!! all of your costumes look amazing!!! i did finish my daughter's wonder woman costume... progress!!

update on the head armor: super glue didn't hold against duct tape - so took it all apart, sanded down the plastic pieces, glued them back together with E-600, clamped down for an hour and then re-taped (it looks exactly the same which is why there are no pictures)

Shoulder armor got attached last night with velcro

Went out for a test run last night, will post pictures later today

Here's my Lloyd... ended up not using the shoe inserts for the armor... looked too heavy. Went the Solo cup and duct tape route. Thanks to everyone who inspired me on this thread!!! All the costumes came out great!!! Have a fun and safe Halloween!!

Wow, I love seeing all the costumes come together!!! They all turned out great, and most importantly, all the kids look so excited to be dressed up as their favourite Ninjago character! Happy Halloween!

I followed this thread for idea's on making my son Kai. I am JUST NOW coming to check out everyone's results. I'm blown away by how awesome all the costumes turned out! I did a more simple Kai, glad my boy never saw this post otherwise he'd been disappointed on how his turned out! He didn't like his face covered :rolleyes

Cndnveggie: thanks for the tips i will be attempting to make my sons halloween costume he wants to be lloyd i have seen differnt approches i really like one from costumeworks.com unfortunatley she doesn't have much instructions since she was eyeing it.
Thank you for sharing tips on armor and head ive tried several ideas but have had no luck.By any chance do you have the snake pattern for lloyd if so please email it ti me my email is diane_94063@yahoo.com. Thank you

Hi!!! It's me again... 4 years later! My son's Lloyd costume came out amazing and I owe a lot of it to you and the iron on decal! Was wondering if you still had that file. I received an email from someone who saw our thread. She's looking for the serpent image. Thanks once again!
