From past experience I learned that I absolutely HATE bondo… so I followed GA’s guidelines and tried using UV Resin to fill lines instead.
I sanded the armor first, and then brushing it on lightly, hit it with UV, wash rinse repeat.
Once the pieces were cured I would hit them with a combination of mouse sanders, disc sanders and hand sanding, hit with filler primer, wash rinse repeat until I thought the surface was smooth enough. I would do this before wet sanding.
As you will see in the photos there is a LOT of sanding that I needed to do. Ended up needing to use some bondo in some spots.
There was incredible amounts of sanding needing to be done. And as the pieces popped off of the printers I would add them to the piles and things to sand.
I sanded with about 120-180 grit sandpaper and then finished it off with 220 and a rinse of water to get all of the insane amounts of dust off. Once everything was hit with filler primer it was nice to see everything start to have a uniform color.
It’s important to note, Some pieces needed to be sliced in half on the program, so I would super glue them and use a soldering iron/spare PLA to mend the halves.
One of the armor sets was for my girlfriend who has a smaller build than the two other costumes, so I just guessed on scaling it down and thankfully it was right. Everything just needed to be scaled down on the X axis (skinnier) as everything else was good, we are all tall people lol.
