John Wick 2 Blood Oath Marker

Is that when he slides it across the table to John?

Good point, is it simply a reflection for the second that makes it look so thick ?
The table shot shows little or no hinge, and the auction marker has a brass hinge.
If the brass hinge (and horribly removed material to make room for the brass hinge) were altered later to fix the damage, then the table shot with the small hinge could still be consistent, but before damage and awful repair.
Those of you that have the Chronicle marker know that the hinge is a part and is built into the marker itself.
To add a different hinge, you would have to Route out the integral hinge and then add a stand alone non-integral hinge. I believe this auction marker is the marker shown but has been sadly repaired with no concern for appearance or authenticity of the hinge.

Also if you rewatch the scene it is cut really weird with sound effects added. You don’t actually SEE the Marker being opened in that scene. Weird. I’ll have to rewatch

This version ,I don't see the cut out part at the perimeter for the hinge, it's clearly visible in the auction.

The hinge cutout is there.

The marker displayed on the road show and the prop store one both use a different font than the chronicle collectibles version. Notice the letter Q in particular.

Also the dots between each star and word are bigger on the CC version. The crowns are different also between screen used and the CC version.

Personally, I wouldn’t use the Chronicle marker as a benchmark for anything. It is nice, except for the hinge that doesn’t open all the way, but I’m not sure how accurate it is. Just my 2 cents.

I believe the badly installed hinge is present on the marker in this scene. You can see the blob of silver solder.

Looks a little to the right, it appears the star is all there compared to the prop-auction one In which it's filed down in half.

Hey everyone,
I know this post is mostly dead but I figured I’d post what I have. It seems the film used two different markers, the one from the prop store (the one Santino pulled out at Johns in the beginning) without the pin to prick the finger and one with the pin (the one Santino used in the end to actually put his print on) which went with the JW Roadshow. Pics of the prop store marker:

And pics of the roadshow marker:

You can see the lid sticks up a bit on the roadshow marker which may be why they used prop store marker for closed shots and the roadshow marker for open shots.

The glasses style hinge they used made it really hard to get the lid to lay flat and flush. I decided to model mine out of a mix of the prop store and roadshow styles. Here is my custom made marker (out of a chronicles marker):

I still have a little to do with painting the triangle and the hinge to match the movie versions a little better, but the basic idea is there. I ground down a little bit off the textured face (you can see on the prop store marker the face is not smooth, was most likely edited in the film) to make it look worn. I broke off the face and re attached it with the proper style hinge after routing out a good bit of metal. I added in the triangle, which I used a magnet for. I then added a very small piece of metal to the lid that is magnetic because the rest of the marker isn’t. This way it magnetically closes like the hero A&E marker. I’m still considering adding in the pricker pin. I figured the raised lid looks fine since that is the way the roadshow marker appears. So far this is the most realistic version I think I’ve seen out there. Note there is no triangle at the 9 o’clock position either, just the hinge. Let me know what you think!

Oh and it does open to a perfect 90* :)

Ground a little more off the textured inside (I want it to look dirty and rustic) and fixed the sketchy look to the triangle. Also took some side profile pics to show how raised the lid is. The higher relief is the only way this type of hinge will open to 90* even with all the metal routed out.

I bought the chronicles marker when it first came out but preferred the one nakai was selling. One of mine has the pin in the top.

If I do the pin I’m going to do it the way the roadshow marker is, where it can retract into the marker and probably won’t be a sharp pin.
