Jodo’s Star Wars Basement Renovation (WIP)

Thanks guys! I feel better after getting the bar stuff up, and committing to “compartmentalization” of the 1:1 scale stuff to one side of the room, while the toy collection goes to the other side. With that being said…

Tell your kids not to ever buy this many stormtroopers. Talk to your children about army building early. Don’t let them do it. Tell them drugs are cheaper!

That's a commitment right there...

I should not do this to my bedroom. I should not do this to my bedroom. I should not do this to my bedroom. ohhh its too tempting! it would be so impractical but this is SO AWESOME!

Thanks for the interest!!!

Unfortunately, I haven’t done much for months on the basement. I was unemployed from January to June, so didn’t have any extra funds to play around with. It was a sudden curse of lots of free time, but then no funds to support the project.

I finally got a hit on a position (that was a huge step backwards) and started it, only to realize how miserable and draining it also is. Last month I started looking for something more enjoyable and hopefully with a larger salary.

Between everything the last year, and several things the few years before that, I really don’t have a lot of happiness in reserve. In turn, I guess that gives me a lot less motivation. I’m not happy with the basement either, so I’ve been thinking about ways to cheaply make it look more “in universe.” Every time I go down there I feel like I didn’t do it justice.

Main goals for 2025 are:
Paint more of the walls dark gray (and maybe the ceiling black?).
Paint, back, and hang the Imperial wall panels.
At least start on a frame to go around the armory peg board.
Install LED’s on the remaining two shelves.
Put together the other two shelves I have.

Secondary goals:
Buy a replacement fan.
Replace the HVAC vent covers.
Frame the rough opening of the well windows (that are on either side of the armory peg board).
Continue to replace the warm bulbs with cools…

Here’s where we landed in 2024:

If anyone has any tips or pointers for some cheap ways to make it look more in universe, I’m open to ideas. I think painting the walls and possibly the ceiling would help.

I think having half for toys and half be in universe is the way to go. I’m still imagining an imperial office/customs area, which I think makes the most sense for a simplistic theme, that would also allow for non-imperial props, like the Mando helmets, animals, etc.

Looks good so far! Also, it looks like you're doing the same mod to your Hasbro P1 Clone Trooper bucket I did to mine. Not as extensive as some I've seen, but it gets the job done.

I love those Deathstar panels I think your set up looks great!

How about a few dark grey wall panels Battleship grey as it looks quite an Imperial set up you have there. My display cases are full of those LED strips you get on a reel and give a real vibe easily changed by remote.

I keep wanting a Cantina themed area but that's just crazy?

Thank you all!! Still haven’t made any progress, unfortunately.

That DPS chair is from Costco, was discontinued, but I just recently saw they have a new version! It’s the best chair I’ve ever had.
