Thanks for the interest!!!
Unfortunately, I haven’t done much for months on the basement. I was unemployed from January to June, so didn’t have any extra funds to play around with. It was a sudden curse of lots of free time, but then no funds to support the project.
I finally got a hit on a position (that was a huge step backwards) and started it, only to realize how miserable and draining it also is. Last month I started looking for something more enjoyable and hopefully with a larger salary.
Between everything the last year, and several things the few years before that, I really don’t have a lot of happiness in reserve. In turn, I guess that gives me a lot less motivation. I’m not happy with the basement either, so I’ve been thinking about ways to cheaply make it look more “in universe.” Every time I go down there I feel like I didn’t do it justice.
Main goals for 2025 are:
Paint more of the walls dark gray (and maybe the ceiling black?).
Paint, back, and hang the Imperial wall panels.
At least start on a frame to go around the armory peg board.
Install LED’s on the remaining two shelves.
Put together the other two shelves I have.
Secondary goals:
Buy a replacement fan.
Replace the HVAC vent covers.
Frame the rough opening of the well windows (that are on either side of the armory peg board).
Continue to replace the warm bulbs with cools…
Here’s where we landed in 2024:

If anyone has any tips or pointers for some cheap ways to make it look more in universe, I’m open to ideas. I think painting the walls and possibly the ceiling would help.
I think having half for toys and half be in universe is the way to go. I’m still imagining an imperial office/customs area, which I think makes the most sense for a simplistic theme, that would also allow for non-imperial props, like the Mando helmets, animals, etc.
