Jod Na Nawood | Captain Silvo Costume - Skeleton Crew

I found I had a pullover shirt I had that fits me about the same as the one for the costume, so I’m going to copy the dimensions for the body and the sleeve length. I’m thinking that if I increase the width of the sleeves, I can get the right volume for the shoulders. I hope to do a test version this week. I found a sheet set on clearance at Walmart that I think will work for the blue-gray color. I’ll post how it goes later!

Re-started the coat. I’m still going with modifying a premade coat, but this time I think I’ve made a better checklist of what to change. My only concern is getting it done in the correct order so I can get the stitching done correctly.

Hi Everyone!

I've been lurking on here for the last couple of months watching all of your fantastic builds. I've really wanted to build a Silvo since watching Skeleton Crew and this has been a treasure trove with all the references too.

I've been working on the helmet first as that's what I've done the most of and I'm most comfortable with and that's pretty much finished now (huge thank you to all the references and builds on here):

Sorry about the mess...

I've also printed the buckle and knife but they're in various stages of being finished. I've bought a cheap jacket to modify after seeing all the awesome coats you have all made, I don't have much experience with a sewing machine but it think it's worth a go!

Looking forward to seeing more of your builds :)

Won’t pass close inspection, but I think the coat should be good enough for GenCon in a couple weeks! Unfortunately, this thing is really warm, I have a feeling it’s going to be a “winter troop” costume….

Dude for real.... I have like 9 costumes including a range trooper (witch is obviously extremely hot). I could not believe how hot my silvo is. I Knew the coat was gonna be warm, but figured with it being open and a light shirt under it that is wouldn't be that bad. I was wrong... it's my hottest costume aside from my range trooper..... your kit is looking great!

My "calling it complete" costume. Not 100% accurate but I want to change a couple things. It was so hot my helmet kept fogging up. My wired voice amplifier is a hassle. The shape of the helmet prevents me from wearing the headset properly and it smashes against my head. I might try a wireless system.

Looking good man! I ran a wireless mic for my headset. I was able to cram the headset in the front point of the face. I just wore the amp it's self on the back of my belt, hidden by the coat. One thing that will help with the fogging is a moisture wicking "dew rag". Since you can't wear a balaclava with this kit.

I love seeing saber lighted pics! It really pulls you back into the show itself. Great job.
