JJ ABRAMS Enterprise

BTW, there are a number of different shuttles on display in the film (if there's one thing Trek has never been in short supply of, it's shuttles). They range in appearance from kinda cool (the Enterprise shuttles) to medium lame (the Academy shuttles).

I am excited about this movie, love the new Enterprise, loved the latest trailer BUT.......that kid at the beginning says James Siberius Kirk I am sure of it :lol

That bridge set is beyond gay. It looks decorative, fragile, and in no way functional...
_Mike

Decorative, fragile, and in no way functional = Beyond Gay

Do you mean in a Happy way or a homosexual way?
I would think anything Beyond gay would need to at least be Fully-Functional:eek

Either way I like it, I think the bridge look cool. Even the Mr. Fusions:lol
I think it is likely not plate glass, but you never know. I trust if they can make windows for the spaceship out of something that they can handle the few panels on the bridge:rolleyes

Beyond gay means delicate, impractical, and decorative, versus sturdy, practical, and functional. And because of it, it doesn't look believable, or real, and is thus dramatically useless. It's over before it starts. Ditto those worse-than-fanfilm hallways. I've seen comments like, "I'm just glad for anything Star Trek," offered as excuses for this piss-poor work. Well, fine, if "anything" will work for you, then so will this. But for no shortage of us, I notice, this production design is weak no matter what franchise it's for. There is nothing - absolutely nothing - cool about sitting in the Big Chair in command of Starship Apple Store, I'm sorry.

Funny, this is the exact same analogy my dad used for the new E (but without the pic)

I do not know why but for some reason looking at that ship kind of gives me the feel of this thing flying through space. :lol

If the story and the acting are good enough it could be a really good movie regardless of all of the changes. That being the case, why couldn't they just leave at least the frigging ship alone for us old schoolers to relate to :unsure.

You don't need to apologize. Paramount should apologize, and Abrams.

You KNOW what's going to happen.

This will end up immensely popular (if just to spite me) and Abrams will be heralded as a god like that hack that butchered Galactica.

The twitch generation are too busy to even see it happening.

Oh, you don't like it, for you gay = bad, I get it. Ah well to each their own:thumbsup

I like it, looks fine to me. Not for any of the excuses you use, just because it looks "good" to me, believable (as any fictional starship can be for me), Real (as it can be since it is based on unreal things for me) and thus dramatically useful to the story, for me.
I think we just have a difference of opinion. that is OK, just like Music, it takes all types and one person's garbage is another's favorite tune.
:cheers
I am looking forward to it, maybe after seeing it I will hate it with a passion, but really I will not know until I really see the thing. I am good with everything I have seen so far.

Thanks Phase Pistol, those screen caps are the opposite of Mike's Gay, thanks. Much easier then trying to pause the trailer over and over:thumbsup

I always thought Klingons should be in trenchcoats with Orc Helmets and batons. It seems Abrams agrees with me.
Editorial Note: I should make it clear that this post is dripping in sarcasm.

If by "that hack that butchered Galatcia, you mean Ronald D Moore, I think he is probably one of the single most talented story tellers that exists in Sci Fi today.

I think that the new Battlestar is probably one of the best Drama's I have ever seen, ever. The morality plot details of that show is 2nd to none, and I mean none.

I hope I misunderstood you there with that comment. Because you are NOT invited to my double date with Tricia Helfer.... and I was THIS CLOSE to inviting you. THIS CLOSE

One of Treks main themes is hope for the future.

What kind of future will we have if the technology of Velcro is lost?

Yeah, it's kind of making me wonder about this helmet now-

I always thought it was made for the tour/ video thing, but now I'm wondering if it was made for the Rura Pente scenes in Trek 6?

Funny thing about the trenchcoats- I designed damn near exactly that coat for myself back in the late 80's. Mine had a detachable, wrist length cape though too. :lol

IMDB lists three actors as KLINGON PRISON GUARDS.
Guess that would explain the batons and the apparently 'in custody' Nero.
Klingons in trenchcoats...anime Captain Avatar style trencoats....with leather masks.....they have a Lord Of the Rings vibe...I dont like it

well, if you make that helmet available I will buy one....just cuz....

Yeah, it's kind of making me wonder about this helmet now-

I hope I misunderstood you there with that comment.

You didn't.

And since you think Dave Prowse is God for walking around in black suit and that Blade is even remotely entertaining (let alone 2 & 3), let's just say were on different pages. :cool

If Ron Moore is good at anything it's stealing other peoples concepts and wrecking them. He should get with Majel Barrett and see which one can ruin Gene Roddenberrys ideas fastest.

(photo edited out - look on the last page if you missed it. Pet peeve - replying with all the photos from a recent post in the same thread:wacko)

Sarge, I think that Tour Helmet is cooler then the one in the trailer, it has more style to it - looks... tougher.:cool

I like the new Galactica, but aside from that, I think you're giving Abrams too much credit. To date his movies have ranged from "Not bad" to "Okay, I guess. Fine." He's currently on the fast track formerly occupied by Bryan Singer, where the studios just give the young "hip" guy all the biggest franchises on the basis of one or two half-decent attempts. Then, a couple of truth-revealing so-so movies later, they move on. MI:3 was a big meh, critically and financially, and Cloverfield was "Well, A for effort, JJ..." The chances of him magically becoming a storyteller who has the essence of drama down now are silm. Close to zero, based on those scene descriptions and trailer shots if you ask me.

If you're afraid this is going to be Fast and Furious in space, you're right.
