Unlimited Run Jimmiroquai's TFA/TLJ Stormtrooper Armor Set: Casting on demand

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

I came from my fiberglass guy yesterday to check on the armor progress. He already has two sets done, pending modifications for 501st approvability. I can ship these out as they get them on hand. So the first ones on the list will get theirs ahead of schedule. I plan to be able to ship all the sets on or before 2nd week of October to be able to start the 3rd run.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

I wish we had more 6' and up folks over here but the average height here in the Philippines is 5'5" so i don't really have anyone to test fit at that height. I did incorporate allowances in the design but armor is never really 100% one size fits all. My main concern with the taller guys is that there might be a gap between the chest and ab section or that the biceps maybe be too short. But this is without mods. If you are familiar with fiberglass or know someone who is, then spacers can easily added and glassed on to fit.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

Sounds great still, i'm 6 foot myself i don't think it will be too hard to modify if necessary but I don't think it;ll be an issue, I also plan to modify this to a Phasma suit.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

So if we need to cut down on the girth, how difficult is this to work with like normal armor kits? Meaning, I can built armor all day long seamless, but I am unfamiliar with this material so I want to be sure that I could, say, cut down on the thighs to better fit my form. I always get nervous when I see "flexible" as those materials aren't generally as straight forward as ABS or resin. Thoughts?

Hi! Good question! First off, FOTK armor is kinda/sorta one size fits most such that gaps in length or girth are covered up by the gaskets. In fact, as shown in the anovos armor, a builder can trim the length if too long, but can't really alter the girth much because of the specific placement of the recessess for the clip/latch greeblies. If you look closely at pics, while there are a variety of heights there is relative uniformity of limb girth. So if you are thinner, you can secure the fit with some foam and your gaskets will hide your arms/legs. Does that make sense? But if you really do want to alter the girth of the limbs, my very very experienced fiberglass guy says you can adjust the armor using any semiflex fiberglass resin as you normally would semiflex/rigid fiberglass. I have asked him to make me a sample of this so i can show you how stuff will behave as i am curious myself.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

Ah ok. I asked because those thighs look huge and I'm pretty sure would look silly on me at that width. I'm pretty used to building stuff out, but if it can't really be modified I may have an issue. I'm very interested to see what you FG guy has to say. Thanks!

I've trimmed my thighs too short, making them look bigger and chunkier than they really are. I should have trimmed from the crotch and butt area instead to make them go up higher on my thigh. I'm in the process of building a set for a friend of mine who's about the same height as i am but waay thinner (he cosplays Power Rangers well). So hopefully i can correct the mistakes i made during the first prototype build and he can serve as a better model as i do have more of a "dad bod". :) Folks can also see how this will look on a thinner frame.

Are you still going to supply the bigger thighs with the standard kits.
Some of us will need those. cough, cough. lol

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

Oh, i don't plan to change the current size of the thighs that come with the kit. I think it's a good middle ground.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

How about individual parts? Doing a snowtrooper.

Would need:

Shoulders
Forearms
Handguards
belt
Parts for ankles

I would love to be added to that waiting list if you are still accepting people :D

Hi! Yeah we can probably work something out. I'll know more once i finish the current run in a few weeks.

Added you to the waiting list. I'll know how many i can accommodate for the next run when i finish this current one. I'll be picking up 2 or 3 sets by next week. I'll start shipping sets out as i get them on hand following the sequence of the list, pending payment of course.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

Good news folks! Production is apparently ahead of schedule. I will be getting 5 sets on hand tomorrow and will ship them out this week (pending payment of course). I foresee the current September run to be done by Saturday or early next week. For those of you in the current run, i will be contacting you in a few minutes, updating you about your kits. And for those in the waiting list, if people do back out ( :( ) i'll be letting you know if you've been bumped up as well. If no one backs out of the current run, those in the waiting list will automatically be included in the October run. As to how many sets my guys can churn out for the October run, now i know we can do 10 sets in less than 2 weeks so we may be able to accommodate most of you. I do have pending large orders that will be done after the October run, so there may be a chance that waiting list will be put on hold for now. I'll know more soon. Thanks for your patience everyone!

Oh and here's a pic of how large the thighs actually do look on screen:

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

Throw me on the wait list please....
Added you to the list! Thanks for the interest.

UPDATE: I have 5 sets on hand and i'm preparing them for shipping. Possibly 5 more sets by next week. Then it'll be time to start the next run early.

I've also updated replaced some parts (hand guards, butt plate, shins, added belt soft pouch cover plate) which are all included in the current run and subsequent runs.

Re: Jimmiroquai's TFA Stormtrooper Armor Set

I would be interested in getting on the list for the shoulder bells, forearms, and the chest/back piece. I'm going to be doing the TFA Tie pilot. How much would it be for just those parts?
