Personally I would get it in a heartbeat if they are ever releasing it again. The reviews seem decent.

I think this would be best suited as a 1:1 figure...
Mannequin Skywalker! (couldn't resist)
On a static figure, with an appropriately-sized base mannequin, would not be difficult recreating the frame of Prowse.
And for a display, I would think you could incorporate some custom tweaks and improvements that may not work so well if actually wearing the outfit...

I watched the assembly video for the Sideshow figure, and it has a pad that covers the abs of the mannequin (that the chest plate sits over)...
Did the original costumes feature this?

$250 USD is a great price for this height of a mannequin! The only problems is that the feet are not completely flat (he's up on his toes a little bit) and the support stand rod comes up through the heel of the right foot.
Which means, you have place a hole in the heel/sole of your right side Vader boot, or figure out a way to support the figure upright without using the stand (awkward when the feet are not flat).
