Well, Jayne ain't a girl! If she starts in on that girl's name thing, I'll show her good and all I got man parts.

Sorry, couldn't resist, but I'd say that line pretty much sums up why Joss gave Jayne a girl's name.

I recall reading an interview with Joss Whedon where he said giving Jayne a female name was an homage to the Johnny Cash song "a Boy Named Sue" about a gunslinger with a woman's name.

Are these tshirts available in some form? or the artwork to produce one myself ?
( I made a pretty decent Flash Gordon one for myself, and for a friend I made her a Ming The Merciless one (shes asian and called ming) and on the back the cool 'are your men on the right pills?' quote- as she is a clubber)

I've got the link to the RPF thread with the troublemaker artwork (yellow with the gun), and the art I did for the blue "let's be bad guys" shirt.

"Jane" is a girl's name. "Jayne" is not. It's part of the Old West theme.

I've started the Water shirt (I assume it's the one you're talking about). I've also got the art done for the Soldier shirt. Will be doing the talking head art, dead fish, Firefly version of the "lets be bad guys shirt", the rabbit and bear shirt, and possibly others. I hope all of them will end up produced like the Fighting Elves and Pin-up Girl ones I did.
