Hi all

This is a prop I've always wanted to tackle is a Jaws yellow barrel and I think I can pull it off...I plan on starting with a blue water barrel. Gonna require a lot of modification.
Has anyone made one of these from scratch before....
.
I made this yesterday out of a 30 gallon white plastic drum. I'm pretty damn happy with it. Considering it cost me nothing to make! Lol

Made this yesterday out of a 30 gallon white plastic barrel. Not bad for $0 and a few hours worth of work. Beats being robbed for the ungodly ammount for a reproduction.

That is genius! I never thought about heating it up to make the depressions in the plastic!
It worked pretty good. Takes time. Keep heating and adding pressure from the ratchet strap. I maybe should have slightly curved the square blocks around the edges. Looks pretty good though I think.

That's the "Vacu-forming of the poor":p Take a buck (wooden form or other solid/strong material), put your plastic sheeting on top (ABS, Sintra, etc), heat it up with your heat gun, while forming it with your gloved hands...and voilà: your formed plastic part;)

Lol. Yeah I really didn't think it would work. I could have spent days making better blocks w curves and stuff but in the end it turned out pretty good. Plus I knew the ropes and paint and beer would hide alot. I'm pretty stoked. It cleans that corner up a lot. Oh and whoops I didn't use gloves. Lol

Well, ****! Why not add an oxygen tank. Lol

Appreciated, bud! Thanks to some tips here, I was able to track down the same model army jacket that Robert Shaw wore in the movie. It's in pretty pristine condition, considering its Korean War-era age.

Yours looks great! Did you just paint it yellow then add the black scratches like I did? I considered the same kinda heating method for the divots but just found this blue one for 5 bucks on Marketplace. Gonna need some more spray paint LOL. View attachment 1727079
