James Horner's complete Rocketeer score?

I've been wondering for many years if a complete score for The Rocketeer ever existed since the commercialy available score album is missing quite a few musical cues from the movie and was overall a dissapointingly short album considering how well Horner scored the film.
I recently read a little tid-bit somewhere that there was a 2-CD album which featured all of Horners' recordings but I can't seem to find any other information about it.
If we have any score fans here that may be able to shed some light on this topic, please chime in!

I recently just watched Rocketeer (dunno why I always called it The Rocketeer) again for the first time in over a decade, where I noticed it didn't have much of a theme for our hero... imagine how epic it would've been with a rousing theme!

Of course there is a main theme! Just watch the airshow rescue scene again and you will hear how obvious the hero theme is.
Not like in Batman Begins/Dark Knight where there was really NO identifiable 'hero' theme.

"the" is like a title. like "the spirit", "the shadow", and "the punisher" because thats who they are, however, when they are referred to its "you know rocketeer, punching nazis really is fun."

I've noticed alot of movie scores released are always missing good amounts of music. It was that way with batman: mask of the phantasm until they reissued it as a 2 disc set.

Actually, no. You've got it back to front.

The movie is called Rocketeer, not The Rocketeer. And he refers to himself as the Rocketeer.

"I'm the Rocketeer."

"The rocka-who?"

"For cryin' out loud! Haven't you read the papers?"

The print I saw is just Rocketeer.

Not that it really counts, but the teaser poster also calls it just that:

(An awesome poster, by the way.)

Ah, you played the ol' Wikipeida and IMDb hand.

Well, the DVD I've got here has no "the" on the cover, the disc or in the opening credits.

I think internationally it was known as Rocketeer

Here in the united states it was known as the rocketeer.

International posters show Rocketeer, while here in the U.S. it shows The Rocketeer (except the teaser poster)

I only seen and heard of a one disc cd

I just downloaded a 2-Disc Rocketeer score from a torrent.
Has all of the tracks released in the commercial album and a lot of new ones which don't seem as 'clean' but still very good. Could have been a promotional album.
I haven't had time to really listen through but there is a substantial more music in it than the commercial album.

There has never been a commercially issued complete release. There are bootlegs which have unreleased cues taken from DVD rips with sound effects. There has never been a promo album issued. And the score has a fantastic, wonderful, beautiful, soaring theme for the hero.

Any time you have questions about legitimacy of score releases, Go to soundtrackcollector.com and they will tell you about all commercial releases, promos, and often times bootlegs that have been pressed and circulated. If a bootleg does not show up in this database, it's a safe bet it's a DVD rip that is usually mixed with sound FX.

Here is their listing for the Rocketeer - It will give you a complete history of releases:

The 2-disc score I downloaded does not have any sound FX or anything like that going on.
Not sure of its lineage, but I'm pretty happy with it. I own the official album as well so I certainly have enough Rocketeer music to keep my company.

I found an unofficial bladerunner album like that, its got a ton of music on it and claims to be the most complete around.

Now, where did I say it didn't have a theme? I said it had a weak theme.

I couldn't disagree more. I think the main theme from The Rocketeer is one of the best movie themes out there. The music fits the movie perfectly and puts you in the scene emotionally, especially the flight scenes.

John Williams is THE man, and I put this theme right up there with Superman and Indiana Jones. The perfect music for the movie.

Of course, I could be a bit biased...:angel
