My son watched Sandlot for the 1st time recently and when i pointed out that "Mr. Mertle" was the voice of Darth Vader, his eye's grew double in size, followed by WHAAAAAT??? NO WAY! lol. Mr. Jones lifes work speaks volumes and that's an understatement. Our generation was blessed to have him. Most of us probably never knew him personally but it sure feels like we all lost our Grandpa.

Its strange how Jones grew up with a stutter in his childhood and yet became the most recognized voice in the industry.

We've lost quite a few talented actors and actresses, but for me, this one hits the hardest. Star Wars was such an important part of my childhood in the late 70s and early 80s, and still is to this day with my family and I. He brought so much to the role of Darth Vader with his incredible voice. But one of my most favorite rolls of his was Terrence Mann in "Field of Dreams"; one of my all time favorite movies. From his stage acting to film, he left a mark like no other. Rest easy good sir, you will be forever missed.

A shame further Vader appearances will be done with respeecher. A shame there will be further appearances of Vader.

I know it's naive to think this but, it's at this point we should honor what he and the other OG contributors, since they've now all passed, brought in creating the character and just let it rest now.
