Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

here is a preview of the basic form of the mold that is used to create IP latex gloves :)

when the latex will be dry, the tube will be removed and the paper that give the shape and remain the only form to put inside the hand.

Nice man, good job. :thumbsup

Ladman- Yes i got them! Just about to messege you :) Thanks!

No problem man. I wish i had time to help model some parts for you. I have vacation next week, so maybe i will work on the hands again and we can use them for the MK47 build.

Irongatsu- Not sure how to help you on this one buddy :unsure Laellee will know more than me about this :thumbsup

Ladman- Theres no need to model the hands (for pep) Zabanas pep files will work fine they are the same as the hands for this new suit so dont worry :)

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

thanks jackieisrockin.

I wanted to point out that the cannon pep is inverted position, when you paste, do not leave out the faces with the numbers, but those with the flaps.

even if you put the "invert pattern", the result does not change.

If I'm understanding what's happening, you need to bend your folds the other way. In other words, mountain folds are being folded as valley folds, and vice versa. I did this on my first pep ever, and it makes it super hard to see your edge ID's on the inside sections :facepalm
If you invert the pattern, your side plate will end up on the other side FYI.

I'll post up my parts list and explosion later today if anyone is looking for it.

Nice work on the hands!

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

I finally put together a .zip with the design of my cannon mechanicals, including parts list (with sources and prices), templates in .pdo form of homemade mounts and brackets, and an exploded parts view. What is shown ran me about $200, almost 1/2 paying for servos :unsure The mounting framework, main arm and hub hardware are all aluminum, with coated steel fasteners and push rods and a Delrin main gear. Mine is built to plug into my suit's brain (arduino and LiPo) with a separate operating switch and IMU sensor set into the helmet's top padding for tracking.

Maybe this will help somebody else along? Feel free to PM me with questions or problems, I'll help if I can. I have a huge pile of information and design notes on the assembly, I'm sure I left useful things out.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

sweet ! Thanks for sharing ! Not sure I can build that myself, but I'll study that when I'm done with the suit itself.
I demolded the eyes today, they came how great, just like I wanted. A few raw cast shot :

Unfortunately I think I should have let them cure a bit longer, they broke (well, ripped actually) when I was cleaning them. That's ok, though, I still have plenty of resin, I'll just redo it tomorrow.

edit : did you guys see this too ? Smells good for details !

Sounds good man, if there is anything i can help with let me know, i would like to give back and help you for all that you have done for the IP for us.

I was excited to see the mount/servo info, but this line really peaked my interest. Any additional details?

I have a spare Arduino from my saber build (that I still need to finish) that may have just found a new home!

All of the servos can run off of 4 pins on an arduino (I've got an Uno R3, no shortage of outputs), But it kind of depends on how much movement you want. If you just want a cannon that rotates out over the shoulder and tilts up to forward position, then you could lose the pan servo. Replace the tilt servo with a solenoid and proximity switch, then you would only need your arduino to control the base servos. If somebody can build a light enough cannon (the reason why I'm working on castings and vacuum forms) then this whole thing could be run off of one servo (and one output). That would be sweet (and A LOT CHEAPER, probably 75 bucks!?!)

Teragon, It builds a bit easier than it looks. I'll try to get an assembly together more like described above, a simplified point-and-shoot.

do not worry, no problem, now I have a lot of practice with pep and can not change anything: D
I'll finish it and then I will do everything smooth with the newspaper, I'll show photos when everything is ready.
it will take a while to finish it, at least 2 days. but once completed, if you are interested, I modify the project and published it again with the components already assembled to cut fewer parts.
not put the servants to the rotation, be made of polyurethane foam, like shoes.
I anticipate a photo, so you'll understand. Once everything is dry, and polymer'll clean the excess, and I'll use the pieces as shoe soles, so I can walk on the paper without being pressed.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

Laellee- Awesome job with the cannon hardware! Added the .ZIP to the first post :)

Teragon- Awesome! How do the eyes fit in the helmet??

IronShwarma2754- I was hoping to finish these first files by the end of next week (thigh, shin, boot, forearm. Forearm and shin are finished) but the thigh took a little longer than i expected (they are REALLY complex) so maybe a few days later than i had anticipated. And that still doesnt count the unfolding time. So after i finish the thigh and boot, all you will have to wait for is the unfolding (not sure how long itll take. IronLeoMan is pretty busy with his foam suit comissions)

Ladman- So far, i think ive got the hang of it :) Thank you for the offer ill let you know if i ever need your help :) Maybe for some unfolding (im really not too great at foam unfolding)

Almost done with the Mk 42 thigh! All major parts modeled, just the silver trimmings on the inside and itll be finished and ready for unfolding :thumbsup

I wish I could give you an answer, but I don't have my helmet yet. They should fit fine however, since I scaled it according to the measurements Biggeek gave me. We'll see in a few weeks I guess !

Laelle, is there a reason the servos have to be those expensive models in particular ? Or could the same be achieve with cheaper servos ?

Making a molding buck and such to mold the cannon, I didn't want to change my original dimensions, so I got stuck using pricey low-profiles and mini servos. You definitely could to make less expensive servos work, if you're OK with adjusting your pep a little. As an example, increase the base and servo tilt box pep heights by 15 mm and 5mm respectively (stuck a pic on here), and the servos could be replaced with like so:
Replace base HS77BB (X2) with HS422 (X2)
Replace tilt HS225BB 180d with HS485HB (better power anyways)
Replace pan HS485HB with HS422
If you can live with the measurement changes, the servos end up costing a lot less. (as in $97 to $47)

Alright, that's good news, thanks ! I have nothing against a bit of tweaking and I already have a couple of servos lying around that should fit the bill.
