Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

I'll take a look at it, I know it's not what I would call an easy paper pep, I'll take a look at the unfold too. Let me know how it goes for you!

you must combine several pieces before printing, and change a little bit the final deployment, but it is not too complicated.
unfortunately I do not have time to do everything, so I adopt this solution. I can just prepare everything and share it.
I optimize time by working on the other, so it is only the cannon to be corrected.
the work is great, very detailed. I'm being lazy :)

You have posted like 10 threads to the junkyard, and nobody wants to buy your terrible looking trash.

First "attempt" goes nowhere after people ask for photos.

Attempt 2, which you post the day after the first one, and you "close" it after someone calls you out on it.

Attempt 3, 2 days after the 2nd one, and people keep asking for photos. You don't respond to anything.

Attempt 4. Again, you post it 1 day after the last thread. I'm noticing a trend here. Also people ask for photos. You post them, nobody replies.

Attempt 5 is where you start posting photos, and waiting more than 2 days (but not by much - barely a week). And you don't "close" the sale after nobody responds. So maybe you're learning?

Attempt 6. Nope, you're not learning. You post this literally the same day as attempt 5. People are starting to figure it out and ask why you bother to post threads once a week offering the same trash. People tell you to "bump" your existing thread by replying to it. You do it only once before...

Attempt 7. More people asking for photos. More delivery of said photos of bad looking work.

Attempt 8 and I'm running out of things to say.

What's also interesting is that you are trying to open an interest for 3D printing services of someone else's work.

I don't know what's going on, or what you're trying to do. But oh man, I am super skeptical of any and everything you do.

Yeesh... My 3d printer is a couple weeks out. I was thinking of selling some parts. Iron Man hip pods Nd such that I have modeled, depending on what kind of finished product I could produce of course. But seriously g this stuff makes me not want to bother..

Msleeper. You should just ignore them instead of being aggressive. Don't trash other people's hard work, it's rude

I'm not trashing his work, as much as I feel like he's trying to scam someone or something. I don't even know what his goal is. And his asking price for his stuff is insane.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

You refer to it as "trash" and "bad looking work". It's still very time consuming to do what he did, and finishing a complete suit is an accomplishment in itself.

Guys (and gals), lets leave this be. Preferably so my inbox doesn't keep getting filled with updates that are just banter.

Hey Jackie. my mark 8 is up for grabs if you dont feel like doing the whole thing from scratch. Its not entirely finish but honestly i have lost interest and moved on to other projects. feel free to grab it if you want. its located over in my thread.

http://www.therpf.com/f24/helagaks-iron-man-mark-8-model-176505/

Thanks. Perhaps ill use it for reference (I think it might just be easier to use the picture as a base and start from scratch than modify an existing file.) But thanks again :)

I keep looking at the new poster, and the forearm and elbow look different than the pep models. Though I guess that's what happens as we get decent looks at these pieces. Any chance of a revised model?

By the way, I *really* appreciate all the work regardless of any changes that may or may not be made.

Yes now that a picture has FINALLY been released of the back of the arm, i now know what to fix on the forearm and elbow. The elbow is quite off but the forearm i have already modeled is pretty close so it wont be too much to modify on it, which is great.
About the bicep, does everyone else agree with me that the bicep i have modeled currently is so far screen accurate? Im pretty sure its good as it is but if anyone else finds something that doesnt match up, please let me know and ill add it to the list of the V2 files :thumbsup

Found around the web

Thanks! If this toy is accurate, that means that i now also know what the boot is supposed to actually look like (looking at other promo art and set pics, im pretty sure these boots are pretty close, not mine :unsure)

Any progress on the uber cool suit Jackie?

Yes! Im pretty sure that i might finish modeling the thigh either tonight or tomorrow (all thats left is the silver trimming but its pretty detailed so im not sure.) After the thigh comes the boots and then the four parts are ready for release! Boots might be complicated though :unsure

Well said :cool:thumbsup

something to change we will be sure, but all in all, not very far from the final modeling, even those who already went ahead need not worry, there are only small steps to do.
the elbow is not all wrong, you just have to change the lower portion. the shoulder is the same, the torso (upper and lower) are very similar, the cannon V2 is the same, a few tweaks on the forearm, but the boot are the same , only the top cover and separated from the rear. but much closer to reality.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

Yeah nothing major that couldn't be tweaked by hand so far.
I don't remember who poster a RIS rail as being the silver rail on the forearm, but he was almost right. It looks very much like one except it's...biased somehow... Really weird. I think I'm going to give it a try in Blender.

edit :
well, here they are
rendercnvd0c.png

rendertrnhrv.png

right arm rail
left arm rail
They are scaled for 380 forearms, so you can rescale them if you want to, but they will fit higher scale obviously, and probably a 370 scale too.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

Nice work! How long do you think they are? Are you going to print them or build them yourself?

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

as is, it's 3,75 inches long. For the real size, well, I can't say for sure, but you could check the scale table, find the proper scale for Don Cheadle's 5 foot 7 height, then scale the rails accordingly. Although I don't know how the actual suit fits, all I know is that the MK 6 is 6'5 in IM2, so it must not be far from that for the IP neither. Taking that into account, and using a full head to toe pic of the suit, I'd say the rail is very close to 4 inches. A little bit under.
3D print it is for my anyway, it's only 8 bucks for a rail, it's cheaper than buying an airsoft ris rail that wouldn't even be accurate.

I have an unrelated question for experienced folks : the soles of the boots, shouldn't they be hardened somehow to sustain the weight without crushing when using foam ? If so, how ? Layer of resin outside ? Fiberglass ? Or is it a bad idea to do it in foam ?

I bought a pair of slip on shoes and glued them into the bottom of the foam shoe covers, and I didn't have any problems at all of the foam being clobbered. At this point I've worn my suit for maybe 40 hours and there's no major damage to the bottoms.

Re: Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! Check out page 66!

damn, foam must be harder than I thought ! That's good news, thanks.
