Done the shin.. Since It fit snug and can get my feet through.. I improvise.. Cut a seam behind and gut a zipper... Next.. Thigh

A zipper, what a great idea! Wish I would have thought of that on my WM build!:facepalm

The finish looks great on this! How did you get the faceplate detail seams (up the front) look so sharp? Great work!

**Cannon update**
I have an updated cannon base and arm designed that appears to operate more accurately, but I'd like to wait until more reference shots come out before releasing it. If anybody wants to build JUST THE CANNON (not the arm or base), I'll get it unfolded and put it up. The newer versions of the base and arm assembly will be made to fit to this section. Let me know if there is interest in this (attached pic at bottom is upper cannon piece).
So in the meantime, I'm working out the drive system for this. For people who don't need full automation, I have a simple solenoid system that should be pretty affordable to build. When activated it will power the cannon assembly up the back, rotate the arm, and aim the cannon forward (click on link below for animation of movement)

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

Made brackets and arms to attach shoulders to the upper torso. I started with two ball joints on each side, but it kinda limits your front/rear bicep movements, so upgrading to one large ball joint that snaps the shoulder bell down onto the arm (now light bar stock). My outer mounting bracket will have to be fiberglassed in permanent, but I'm thinking of using that silver 'bolt' that sticks out of the upper torso in pics to be the bolt that holds my torso mounting bracket. These ball joints do work pretty slick though. Attached pic is of my starting concept render with pics of the ball joints and also that mystery bolt. Hobby shops sell these ball and socket joints for a couple of bucks

IronShwarma2754- Paint detail cant be unfolded for some parts because of the way the way the files were modeled. You would have to just use reference pictures for the painting process :)

Joker53- Looks great! Good idea with the zipper!

r11no- Wow thats amazing! Great job with the detail! The colors look PERFECT! You even included the lighter shade of silver that runs along the carve lines in the faceplate (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Laellee- Awesome! The animation looks great! And very clever use of the bolt on the shoulder area of the upper torso! That seems like a good idea for the shoulder movement. Just curious, have you thought of using a Universal joint (U-Joint)? Ive seen some pretty small ones at Pepboys pretty cheap and im pretty sure ive seen someone (im not sure who :confused) use it on their IM suit for the shoulders and was thinking of using them for mine as well. Kinda like this one

But im thinking your ball joint idea might be better. Great thinking!:thumbsup

Re: Jackieisrockins Iron Patriot(IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Shoulder a

I think you're right, a u-joint would work well too (and not come apart). I've used ball and sockets for these joints before when I needed to have the shoulders easily removable to transport, but these bells are pretty compact. Maybe I can ditch those curved arms and plug the bells right into the outer edge op the torso arm openings? I've gotta go look at this again lol :eek

Haha sorry i didnt mean to make you rethink your process :lol but good luck with whichever joint you use :)
