Jackieisrockin's IM3 Iron Patriot Pepakura Files! V2 files coming soon!

Re: Jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Neck add

I think somnambulus was only measuring by height, as did i for my scale. When i made my Mk VI, i imported the back, chest, abs, and cod and just measured the height and scaled it to me, which worked out just fine, so i did the same thing here

Yeah, it was only based on height. Assuming medium build..thought it might be good starting point for scaling.

Re: Jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Neck add

i took a gamble and used the default scale(0.849) thinking it would fit because the dimensions were close, or i thought were close *sigh*
so now im back to the drawing board, and hoping i got enough ink to print another set. My usual scale number is 7 with stealth's and robos peps. well at least i learned alot from my first pep, so the next one should be a breeze.. *ugghh*

have you tried the finished helmet on? 'cause the default scale on the helmet is actually smaller regarding my head measurement. And I trust that Pep Designer Point to Point measurement 'cause it has been pin-point with the other peps so far.

Yep I think point-to-point is the best way to estimate scaling, if only to double-check whatever other scaling method someone is using. That's all I use.

im 5' 6" guys, so this is what the default scale would look like on you if youre around my size and height. even though i can or should make it a bit small, imma keep this, pad it and i'll have room for servos or whatever i need to make the helmet animated. and imma use rods to suck the sides in a bit and tweak the jaw before resin/fiberglass. hope these pics help anyone. and hopefully by summer i can put my weight back on and get my shoulders back bigger for a better visual proportion.

you can see where my eye placement is, really close to the center spacing.

good luck everyone! looks like i'll be making my own build thread in the coming weeks! :D thanks jackie n frnds.

Re: Jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Neck add

Torx: Your issue might have been that you didn't take into account the thickness of the foam from your last pep. Using the same scale on a foam pep and a paper pep will result in the paper piece being too large as the thickness of the foam takes up extra space.

Just printed out the foam templates for the helmet, looking forward to starting up on this! I've given myself a tentative time limit of 16th/17th of March for the next convention I'll be going too, but I'm not going to rush it, the REAL latest date of completion is the Ironman 3 premier :D.

My seven year old just caught me looking at this thread... I think there maybe a tiny Iron Patriot in the works...

Yep I thought I had all of the pics and then Jackie dropped this one on my last week. It was a HUGE help! (thanks again). Cleaning up v1 of the shoulder cannon files right now, then they'll go to Ironleoman (thanks in advance) for unfolding and Jackie to look them over. Should have them posted (fingers crossed) in the next day or two. I'll try and a couple of render shots up tonight showing the version 1 complete.

Peruski: Having just completed a MkVII for my 8 yr old girl, I will tell you there is not always a set scale factor for growing bodies. As much of a pain as it can be, you're better off scaling each piece individually for the youngster.

What can be useful is that often the scale for the forearm, is the same for the bicep, etc, so a limb can generally be scaled the same, but it isn't necessarily the case that the arms will be the same as the legs, or the chest etc.

To avoid unnecessary redos, I would definitely suggest scaling each part using point to point measurements.

I hear you... My first build was a MKVI for him this past Halloween. Scaling was different for every piece except the chest and back where the same. I still had to cut several inches off the tops of the thighs in the eleventh hour. I learned a lot from that build and am looking forward to a new one. There is a link in my sig for my build thread. Or search 'selitac' in the replica costume forum.

Those are good suggestions for anyone considering a youth build though... Plus those buggers insist on growing throughout the entire build. Three weeks in and somebody's almost inch taller ... Ha ha.

These are renders of the IP cannon assembly modeled in a component form so it can be articulated. I am also releasing a secondary file for pepakura that will be prebuilt; it eliminates the pins and articulation for an easier pep of the cannon in 'stowed' mode. Still hoping to have these ready for everyone in the next couple of days :)

There are alot of new IP pics out there now... a few weeks ago, there was like, 6 pictures TOTAL.

I wonder if that rifle on him is an ENERGY Weapon, or a Projectile one.

I'm guessing energy/pulse. The warning stickers make more sense for an electrical/energy item than a traditional projectile weapon (yeah I have overthought this way too much lol), and the barrel shape is not symmetrical from what's visible.
There are a lot of images out there, but not a lot of prop-correct suit and cannon shots. I still need to archive these reference pics and put the online if I ever have a free minute....:wacko

The warning label on the bottom makes me think energy weapon. Maybe similar to the hand mounted single-use laser Tony had at the end of IM2... since Rhodey seemed to like it saying "I think you should lead with that next time".

If that's the case, I'm guessing it would be more than a "one-off", but just me throwing my 2 cents out there.

Re: Jackieisrockin's Iron Patriot (IM3) Pepakura Files! Links in first post! Neck add

Almost definitely energy based considering it has a laser warning sticker on it. If it was anything but a laser it just wouldn't make any sense lol.

That model is frakkin' amazing laellee!
